I have a late 2004 iBook G4, that i've bought early current year..through ebay. I've maximized it and put an SSD. I use it everyday in my work, it's a great machine.

This thread needs more pictures

My IIc (I really think this thread to be moved to the Collector's forum, as half of these posts aren't PowerPC related)

Okay, if you want the oldest running PowerPC Mac, I have both one of the original PowerPC Macs, a Power Macintosh 7100/66 (the initial-release model at the lower speed, runs Macintosh System 7.1.2,) as well as the original PowerPC portable, the PowerBook 5300c. My 5300c runs System 7.6 off a PCMCIA flash card (precursor to Compact Flash,) instead of a spinning hard drive, and has a WaveLAN card. Connects to my AirPort network just fine, browses the web with iCab. (If I was masochistic, I could run OS 9 and Classilla, but it doesn't have enough RAM for those to run well.)

iMac G3 Summer 2000

I've got an iMac G3 from Summer 2000 that just turned 13. She works perfectly. I got her last Summer and she wasn't doing too well. (Yes I refer to her by gender because she can be quite feisty!) When I got her she had a 10 GB HDD with Mac OS X 10.3.9 and 192 MB of RAM mismatched at a 128 MB stick and a 64 MB stick. I maxed out the RAM at 1 GB with dual 512 MB sticks, and kept the hard drive and OS just wiping most of the drive and trying to start as fresh as possible because I couldn't find a Panther install disk. I spent a lot of time cleaning her out and opening her up. I also installed a Wi-Fi card that the previous owner bought but had been unable to properly install. Now she runs incredibly well. The version of Safari is obviously a bit old so it works about as well as it can. Also I have some music on there and I use it as a stereo once in a while. She spends most of the time sitting there powered off but when I turn her on she purrs like a kitten.

I use my iMac G3 daily, mostly just for MacRumors & Craigslist, but it is either running those sites or using Fliqlo as a Clock, my iMac G4 also Runs Great! I cant believe how good the G3 still runs though with only a 400MHz Processor

I have an 11 year old powerbook. It's new to me, but an old device. Works like a dream though.

I just found a PowerBook 3400c at a local market here. The seller was really convinced and was trying to convince me that it's not a computer. It's a pda of some sort... Dumbass... Anyway, i got it for a good price. Something that translates in about 20 us dollars. It has the fdd and the cd drive, the 128 MB ram card so it's upgraded to the maximum of 144MB of ram. Also the original manual in German and the original power brick. It has the 200MHz PPC 603e cpu. It had the original 2.1GB hdd but i replaced it with a 60GB one. I'll keep the original as a backup because it has a fresh install of MacOS 8.5. I installed 9.1 on it and it purrs like a kitten. If it was't missing the latch that covers the ports on the back, it would be in mint condition. Funny thing is that the battery still works and keeps the darn thing alive for about 2 hours. Amazing is all i can say.
If any of you guys are interested in the little bundle of joy, give me a message. I don't intend on keeping it for long.

I've got a 2000 Powerbook G3 (Pismo) - used every day as an iTunes jukebox but gets occasional real use as it has Office v.X, Appleworks and TenFourFox on it (for sllooow browsing). Still on its original battery, but has been upgraded to a 500 Mhz CPU card, 1 GB of RAM and an 80 GB HDD and a Belkin 54g card. It also has a prototype Airport card. The HDD made the most difference to performance.

Mac cousin or half brother

Not a mac at all but Runs a 6809 chip set sort of half brother/cousin lol
1984 i think coco III hacked into a XT case and power supply with a disto 4 in 1 controller card, 20 MG HD, VGA monitor, Running the original OS9 (Tandy) operating system, 5" and 3.5" floppy drives. can only have 8 windows open at once really over powers the 1.7 Mhz cpu with any more. The tech in that thing is amazing for the year.

My original iMac G4, still on Tiger, looks and runs like new! It's got maxed 1GB RAM, and 160GB HDD. Use my MacBook more, and my iPad even more so. But it's still my Spotify machine, with the privilege of being hooked up to my Logitech Z4s :D

My oldest is a G3 iMac 266 tray loader Lime, 268MB RAM, 6MB HD from 1998, Panther 10.3.9.
Amazingly, this was a relative's main computer until 2005.

Youtube 2005 was 320x240 with easier to process video codecs.
Quicktime Pro will convert to those: Sorenson or H263 or std MP4.

On the G3 iMac 400 DV, 1 GB RAM, 40MB HD - Panther 10.3.9
Working Apps:
Adobe Reader 7...........................iPhoto5
Amadeus II..................................iTunes 7
Camino 1.6.11............................OpenOffice 2.2
Firefox 2.0..................................Photostudio 4
Flip4Mac 2.2049.........................QuickTime Pro 7.5
Garageband 2 (limited)................VLC 0.86c
iMovie 5

I actually use it as a backup for when the other computer is busy - updates, high cpu use programs,
and to also receive email just in case I screw up.
  • Check email, craigslist, web searches, ebay Watch list
  • Stream iTunes radio for hours while display sleeps.
  • Manage photos on camera memory.
  • Use Garageband 2 on Record with a Stadium sound effect to continuously process TV audio input to the speakers, analog version of 5.1 surround.
  • Reading up on the damn BSOD from the D*ll on the other side of the desk.
