crap I can't believe I missed this I wasn't looking for it because I thought the only 16GB kit was the OWC one :(

I ended up purchasing a Samsung 830 256GB SSD and this 16GB Corsair RAM kit from NewEgg last night. This will be going in a late-2011 15" MBP 2.5GHz HiRes-AntiGlare.

The best part is - I haven't even ordered the MBP yet! But I figured a deal like this was too good to pass up! :D

Me too! but just the SSD! The 8gb will be good on this macbook for now! Congrats!

Hi,

is this deal dead already?
Could you guys tell me whether I can stick these 16GB (2x8Gb) into my MD313 MBP? (I thought the max. RAM for MD313 is 8GB max all this time)

Please let me know, and thanks in advance.

I shoulda picked this up the other day. Dang.

On a bright note, the price did drop down to $219.00 not as good as the 189.00 deal but not too bad.

No. The deal's over.

Your MBP uses 1.35v RAM anyway. The sale RAM is 1.5v... more suited for 15" & 17" MBP's.

You can still get 16gb for under $400 though.

Not true, I had the same kit in a 13" MBP I had for a couple weeks and had zero issues. The 13" can take the 1.5V 16GB RAM no problem.

In a few weeks, it'll be down to $189 permanently, and then weeks later, down to $99 :D

RAM prices will always go down, so no worries if u missed this sale. I predict by February, you can grab a 16GB kit for about $129 or so...

some of you may be able to use GOOGLE Offers $20 for $40 and $10 coupon NEWCUSTOMER10 if you can sign up and be a "New Customer" knocking off $-30....i don't know if you can combine but even then saving $20 and getting it for $199.99.....

I bet you're right. And if not, you'll be close.

At $99, I'd buy it just for the hell of it.

I bet he is right too. Which is awesome!

Yeah at $99 think it would be dumb to pass that up.

In Windoze 7 64 bit it says 16gb (6.16gb usable)

In bootcamp. Before when i had 8gb it said 6.16gb usable also.

Is there anyway to correct this?

early 2011 mbp 2.3mhz 15.4"

Shows up fine and working under osx

Just wanted to post an update: I installed the memory and it works great in my Early 2011 MBP.

I think Lion runs much faster with 16GB of memory. It could be the placebo effect but Lion seems much more snappy with this much memory. Kind of like SL with 8GB of memory.

Also, I can run multiple VMs now without massive disk thrashing.

I highly recommend this to anyone who!

Cheers!

I may be wrong, but it won't improve system performance unless you are already using all the RAM you currently have.

For example, if you have 8GB currently, and you only use 5 at any given time, upgrading to 16 won't do much, if anything at all, for you.

If you don't need the extra RAM, and don't have an SSD yet, look into that first to improve performance.

I just upgraded from 4 to 8 myself (only 35 dollars) and I don't think I have gained much if anything at all since I never use that much. But it all depends on what and how many applications you run at a given time.

It will improve system performance up to a point, even if you don't use it on applications, OSX will grab as much as there is free and cache parts of the operating system in memory. The more memory is available, the more it will use to avoid using the hard drive. No matter how fast solid state disks get, they are still many magnitudes slower than RAM.

I an pleased with the chips

Just wanted to give an update as well:
I got the 16GB of memory today. Installation was a no brainer. I replaced the 8GB of Mac Memory that I put in it back in July that was $3 or $400 at the time, I don't recall. I will say that the machine does feel a bit more snappy. The first thing I did was edit a 10 minute videos with multiple cuts, transitions, on screen graphics and it output the video effortlessly. While it was outputting I decided to see how much I could throw at this machine at the same time. I opened up Photoshop easily, then opened out a 120MB graphic file and the machine did not flinch, then opened multiple browsers and tabs, let them play video. With all that the activity monitor never showed all of the memory being eaten up like I had experienced with the 8GB I had in there previously. So for the $189 deal I got on these chips, I am pleased. Like was posted before by someone, between all the different names that are on these chips be it Corsair, Patriot, OWC, etc, I think the only difference will be the price, not the experience.

Now I wonder what my 8GB of actual Mac Memory is worth???

Did anyone who ordered this memory kit experience crashes after installing? I'm getting some beachballs/freezes and I'm trying to figure out if it's my RAM or SSD. (Samsung 830)
