Now that the question has been raised, I too am very curious.. Did you leave it with a simple "brb - getting mugged"? :p

But in all seriousness, I'm sorry this happened to you dude - there are some absolute ****s out there. I hope you get it back... One way or another ;-)..

Should I be in the same situation, I'd like to think I would make the sensible decision, life over technology - you definitely made the right choice!

Damn, I've had someone steal my phone before but I've never been mugged for a phone. However, the iPhone isn't in Canada so that's why you got mugged for it most likley. Hope you get it back.

You certainly made the smart decision by simply handing him the phone. It could have been so much worse, so consider yourself lucky (even if in an unlucky way.)

I hope I never have to go through something like that.

Just a knife?

Guns I don't play with, but if you try and rob me with a knife I'm going to take it from you and use it on you. (then again I do have 10 yrs of martial arts training)

You can't outrun a bullet, but if someone pulls a knife on you scream your head off and run like heck. He's not going to throw it at you, this isn't the circus and you aren't strapped to a spinning wheel. Once you draw enough attention the guy will bolt like a scared kitten.

Thieves are bottom feeders. They don't like attention. Once you make a scene they take off like someone lit a fire under them. Even if they don't, YOU CAN. It's just a knife...... take a sprint. You have enough adrenaline to achieve speeds you never knew possible if you are truly scared.

Sorry to hear about it though........GL on recovering it.

i have the lady's # with the picture of the car

and we gave the licsense plate

and now they are just searching for the car and person

the police mentioned something about finding the person but likely my iPhone is smashed and gone

well at least im going to florida next week..so ill pick another iPhone again (my third one)

1st was dropped in a lake
2nd was robbed
and now my third

wish me luck

I did a wiki search on London, Ontario... and it says that, for its size, London has a pretty low crime rate. Is this known to be true? What part of town were you in?

I'm sorry to hear this, but glad you're alright.

Don't fight back unless more than property is at risk. I knew a guy with as much martial arts training as you, in really good shape, and always had a knife at his side. Then a drunk off duty copy starting harassing him, they scuffled, and he is now 6 feet underground. Not worth it, just not worth it.

They need to put sensors in them that shock other people who try to use them.

Get out of my head! :D

Do you have theft insurance?

Just be glad they have found him, so they can arrest the *******!!!!!!!

Not really, you hear about theft etc. a lot here, no where is perfect, but then again London is a big place and it depends on what part of it you live in.

Where is Tom Cruise when you need him!? :D

If Apple added an Apple-activated or user-activated pinger/localizer, it would be a Killer App.

This is true... however; I live in a suburb of Washington, DC. And to be truthful, there isn't a place i would be afraid to go. Now, if I was in DC, most people would tell you that one shouldn't be talking on his or her iPhone at night in South East...

So my question really is, were you in the bad part of London?

You should invest in a brand new Hide-a-Pod! I have one and it's amazing!

Well, how did you manage to drop it in a lake? THAT I would like to hear.... :p

Think of it this way - at least your Powerbook G4 didn't get stolen... then you really would be buggered.

Glad to hear you are ok... Teenagers in North London in the UK that refuse to give their phone and cash away upon a knife threat just get stabbed and left to die...!!

What's more important- a persons life or an iPhone.

Obviously an iPhone- what were you thinking? Jk

I depending on how close he was, I would have yelled and ran. He's got a knife but if you're far away he won't be able to reach you. Screaming will draw attention. Unless you get really unlucky, the guy won't be a professional knife thrower therefore he won't throw it. If he does, chances are it's not really going to do anything. Then you just pick it up, walk back over to him, and cut is nose off.

Good to see you are okay.
