Reminds me of a very similar situation that happened to me a while ago.

I was walking around downtown in broad daylight and some homeless man gently asked me if I had any spare change. I was completely frightened by all this and ran away as fast as I could.

^^^ :D

OP - perhaps you should spend some money on martial arts courses instead of gadgets. ;)

Sorry to hear that, mate.:(

I guess this means it's time for you to go all "Kevin Bacon" and hunt down the guy that mugged you and get vengeance.:D:cool:

Anyway, I hope the popo finds the guy.

I'm trained in the martial arts and I can prolly disarm a mugger if I had enough adrenaline running thru me. Now, if it was a gun, I'd let him have whatever he wanted.

When it comes to disarming someone, you have to wait for the right moment, you have to take that split second chance when the mugger looks away from you or gets distracted. All it takes is a split second to disarms someone.

Sorry to hear that.

Another reason I'm glad I carry a firearm. Not because of the iPhone, but the knife part.

I have to ask, what kind? :D (In Canada carrying of firearms isn't allowed unless you have a license that is essentially impossible to get)

Dude, it is a good thing that you are okay. You can always replace the iPhone but never yourself. I bet if you go to an Apple Store, they'll give you another one for free if they feel sorry for you. :(

Not likely. iPhones aren't sold here in Canada (I'm assuming the OP is from Canada...).

I certainly hope the OP phoned Rogers (again, assuming he's from Canada) to get them to disable the account so the mugger couldn't make any (or few) calls.

But all in all, Brutal. Sorry to hear that happened to you.

I suggest they blacklist the IMEI with their service provider so the phone itself can't be used.

Okay, here we go again. This is the second thread within the past month started by a member claiming to have been mugged for their Apple MBP/iPhone/[fill in product name here]. The first thread is here, and was eventually discovered to be a scam from a now-banned MR member trying to solicit a "donation" of a new MBP! Read through the thread and you'll see how the deception was eventually discovered.

If Eric Lewis was actually robbed, he has my sympathy. But, please note these posts of his to MacRumors just minutes before he started his "Omg I Just Got Mugged!" thread. Anyone see anything odd here?

He worked it out! Run!!! :D

man that sucks, my friend basically got mugged on the bus once for his macbook but he just held on to it and the guy gave up...not the commitment needed for a mugger :p

Yeah but i'm sure it will be fine

Also... Eric is 17 as he stated when posting about his Mercedes a few weeks ago... His form birthday is listed as August 2, 1989, making him 18...

:confused::confused:

All it takes is a split-second to get shot. Unless I'm carrying a weapon in Condition One (or Zero), I'm not going to mess around if someone has a gun. Unless I've got a perfect opening and feeling particularly confident on that day.

However, if they rob me and I am under arms, they're getting shot one way or the other. Once he turns his back to leave, he's got three seconds to make himself one with the deck.

Could have been a typo, I did that on facebook when i made my account. accidentally typed 1986 instead of 1989... I had to get it changed when i realized that I wasn't 21 :p

EDIT: Nevermind, EL, already addressed this...

same thing happened to me

i know what you mean..

Me and my friend were sitting outside of mcdonalds eating our burgers in my car. It was a nice day out so our windows were open, this one black person comes up to my friends side and says, "Give your money, ipod ,cell phones, everythign before we shoot you in your face".. and he took our money and our ipods, but luckily we drove awway before they took our cell phones

I've never gone there again

^^^ you know you can use a car to run objects over?? :)

(not being mean or anything... just a thought.)

Id've gunned the engines and gotten the hell out of there!

I've been "mugged" unsuccessfully. A druggy at my school cornered me by the dumpster and demanded my iPod. I just started to walk away, and it ended the problem rather fast when my friends saw me.
