here is another shot.

to be honest.

my iphone 4 doesnt have all this blue. its just a camera for some reason adding it.

the blue where it says " brightness" is kinda lil dull compared to the pics i took of my i phone lolol.

i wouldnt say its dull because its has green it or yellow.

its just dull compared to the 3gs i used to have. which is where i am dissapointed

if someone can tell me my phone is fine or not. i would be thankful.

the problem is i got the phone shipped to me from UK to Saudi Arabia. and honestly.the phone doesnt exist here. and it wont for while so i wont be able to check till MONTHS from now lol

as for yellow lines. bright circles and ****, i have nothing of that. i do have like 1 or 2 dead pixels that u cant notice unless u turn the lights off in ur room and brightness on the phone way up with black wallpaper then u might get lucky to see them. if u put the screen brightness to half it doesnt exist.

and the dead pixel thing is not an issue really. the phone has perfect even black. something i searched for all over in 3gs till i gave up " the black color is the same all over the screen. no areas has ligher black than the others. "

perfect white. no yellow stuff around.

usually in KSA we have a very strong signal . so i never got to lose a connection or something. sure if i hold the phone very tight i might lose the signal but only if i am about to break it lol.

here is another shot.

I had a look at your pictures and it seems that your phone definitely has the Yellowy screen.

Don't worry too much though, i got one like that as well. Along with MOST people.

Now the question is: should we just return it for a refund and come back in say a month once the models have improved?

Hmmmmm.....

If I were you I'd return it. That's just not good enough for the money.

I'm planning to return it for a refund this week. I'll come back later when they start putting the cool blue screens in the 32GB model.

Antenna issue was not an issue for me nor the proximity sensor.

I'm not happy with the screen though.

Did you put your iPhone along side those in the shop without the yellow tint?

It might be that the the lightening conditions and brightness reduce the visibility of the yellowy screen.

I still highly doubt that shop one have a blue tint like the 3GS.

I think ALL iPhones have yellow screens.

Yes compared them on the same page, ie brightness screen set to the same level with auto off side by side.

Mine was more warmer yellow hue, the ones in the store were more blue like the 3GS

Here are the two iPhones side by side to see the difference. Yellow tinted iPhone 4 is on the left and the whiter iPhone 4 is on the right.

The pics in post 36 are exactly like mine looked when I went to the store.

Mine had a more yellow hue the ones in the store were more blue.

Thanks for that update Greg.

Can you tell me though were the display ones 16GB? I've noticed a trend of shop display units having the cool blue hue as well as 16GB units.

It would also make sense for them to display the 16GB units.

Didnt check to see what version they were. Mine is a 32gb though.

the thing is. its not really yellow as in yellow. some of the screens are really hard yellow it has problem. mine is less blue thats all..

and to be honest today i comapred the wallpapers in IOS in both 3gs with blue screen and my screen. and mine were so much better " real feeling in them "

the blue in my eyes now look really very ugly .

as matter of facts. people did some tests here. and the results that the phones with less blue are actually the better phones

Took a pic of my new iphone 4 in comparison to the old iphone.
Pics were taken at 50% brightness and at 100%.
I have yet to compare mine to another iphone 4 to see if mine is warmer than the rest.

The one on the left is how mine looks. It's perfect.

the one with less yellow phone are actually the better phone.

and to prove it , go to any Apple store . if you find one with blue screen, go to the wallpapers and compare it to ur device

all the pictures, and i mean ALL of them. will look better on the with less blue " or what u people like to call it yellow "

anyone who has yellow phone you should consider your self extreamly lucky.

the 3Gs had the same thing. the first iphone 3Gs were perfect in color. the newer patch now has more blue into it " cheaper screen models as many websites said "

even the black level in the blue iphones are not as good as the iphones with less blue color . the blacks are much darkers on the less blue iphone 4s.

i have tested 5 units .

there are actually many photographers here. and they all said the less blue is the real good one.

actually. the pictures here don't lie. you will make a mistake if u search for the blue screen.

Same here mine is just less blue. In fact the white to black contrast is really good on the ones with the yellow hue compared to the bluer ones.

Im going to keep mine as I think this is actually the more accurate color calibration.

You compared the iPhone 4 bluer ones? It is known that the contrast ratio for iPhone 4 is much better (better blacks) than 3GS.

I wonder, did you compare black contrast with Yellow(iPhone4) AND Blue(iPhone4)?

You can't compare with 3GS because the black contrast ratio spec is different.

I love the fact that my iP4 has a warmer temp that is closer to 65k and srgb than my old 3G that has a very cool temp, where white looks like baby blue.

On mine its not really yellow. If you look at certain pages on the phone the white is REALLY white way more so than the ones with the bluer tint.

I am glad I checked around as I almost took mine back but after really looking at some others, I am not going to go back to the blue hue.

exactly.

the other day i was comparing images like fire, images, water , sea and stuff.

and really the blue one is just flat out ugly compared to the new screens .

Agreed I went to Apple store to swap mine but I compared with display units and I noticed exactly the same thing. I ended up not attending my apointment and walking away happy... Finally

No, both those phones are messed up (or the lighting is just bad). The one on the left is way to "cool" and the one the right is way to "warm."

Apple REALLY need to implement their colour profile changer QUICKLY.

It was going to be in ios4.0 but now I hope it will make it for ios4.1

Then we can configure them to our satisfaction.

This is absolutely hilarious.

Oh how history repeats itself.

I got a launch day 3GS. It was piss yellow. People swore up and down that the new screens were simply warmer. All the arguments in this thread were all said about the 3GS. Then people noticed the in-store models, and other models in the wild, had clear blueish beautiful screens.

Everyone swore it was color calibration, and that it would be fixed in a future update.

Finally we all realized the truth. We had DEFECTIVE SCREENS.

I got mine switched out, the new one had a nice beautiful screen, and no worries.

If you have a yellow tinted screen, GET IT REPLACED. Don't be fooled by the "better colors", "warmer" argument or "wait for firmware" BS. You need a new phone.

It also has to do with the oleophobic coating on the screen. Both my iPhone 4 and 3GS have a yellow hue to the screen but my iPod touch doesn't. And I know this because after months of use, the coating on the 3GS wore off in a spot where I scrolled alot on safari, and that area was alot whiter.

I half agree with you. The problem is definitely defective screens. With that being said warm v cool is a really subjective argument. To one person D65 may look too warm and to another too cool.

if it was extreme yellow .then yes , you have a screen problem. but here is the thing. most people dont have an extreme yellow . its just less blue .

and it does feel more natural. the macbook pro i had was the same thing damn color. look at the pics post of the dude macbook pro.

My phone definitely has a yellow shimmer, I compared it to three others today, all of which appeared brighter and showed daz-White whites (unlike mine). I also notice a couple of specs of dust under the screen: a pain, but at least a cast iron reason to take it back.

Interestingly though, when I went to o2 (still in my 14 days), the member if staff wasn't bothered about the dust and said the screen looked too yellow. A new one will be ready to collect tomorrow (hopefully this will be more dust resistant).
