    That's just plain evil.

    Wasn't it iPhone 3G, not 3G iPhone?

It is so when you are out at sea your iPhone won't sink.

It is very helpful to those of us that live on islands like here in England! Everyone has their own dock!

It's one of these. Their not required, but their nice to have. The original iPhone had them included in the box, but now you have to buy it seprately -- I think it's $29.99.

    how heavy is the box?

i bet it's just Styrofoam peanut packaging material and 2 plastic universal sock adapters for the iphone 3g :p:p:p

The Dock is essentially a desktop USB stand for the iPhone that connects up to your computer.

Well it stands it, clears clutter on desk, charge and syncs it.

The 3G iPhone is a different shape to the current one, hence a new dedicated dock is needed ;)

exactly. apple seems to have followed it as well
the dock also has an audio out socket, but the headphone jack can be used in its place

I think you are missing something here, these are not "docks". The iPhone 3G DEMO units are shipping under a special SKU. Re-read the actual lable on the package. It says

    Time Sensitve Material Enclosed.

*** MUST BE INSTALLED ON JULY 11 ***

This should be (2) iPhone 3G DEMO units..

Question to the OP, what does the rest of the package look like?:):)

supposedly we are recieving the actual phone demos tomorrow according a memo. dont think it is quite heavy enough for 2 iphones w/ full packaging, unless they r jus in demo boxes w/o all the reg materials..

rest of the box is... brown. (excluding shipping label w/ to/from addresses.

So there must be a new bluetooth headset coming...or a least a bluetooth/new dock combo.
