Someone needs to give Apple a nobel-prize.

Yes you're hearing right i'm writing from the MBP.

These mofos are resistant it seems.

I went to get proper screwdivers but still couldn't unscrew the last tiny little bitch because it was too tight. So i said **** it, i put all the screws back in, memory and battery too and started up and it works!

Let's see for how long. I hope the corrosion thing isn't gonna happen though.

Even though it's working now, I would still let it dry for a while longer with the battery out (another 24 hours) just to be safe. Then I would try taking it apart again and then use a damp cloth to try and get all of the wine residue. That way, the sugar won't do any more damage.

Get a keyboard protector. They are cheap compared to replacing your laptop or voiding its waranty.

Last time I was sitting at the pro counter there was a woman who bought in her teenaged daughters laptop. It had been in for spills 3 times. I told her "get a keyboard protector" and she actually said, "they are too ugly". Alrighty then. BTW her home insurance was paying for her and her daughters idiotocracy.

I'd have done that if that last tiny screw in the battery tray came out. It's also awkwardly positioned and difficult to access it.

I'm backing it up now and then will let it sit and dry (even though it is) a bit longer.

Wait some time after cleaning it as everyone suggested. Hope your MBP doesn't die. Good luck!

...That's ironic.

anybody know if there will really be a corrosion later on? is it more something taking place over days, few weeks or months?

for now all is fine. unfortunately i can't get it open to clean it properly and i don't have the time (as i need it for work) to wait for it for days to get a professional spill cleaning. who knows if they would be able to get the screw out, it's seriously unnecessarily tightened way too hard. but i can't blame apple but some of the poor guys in china assembling these for us.

There will be corrosion if you leave it like this. Try to find a proper screwdriver and take it apart. Don't force the screw if you don't have a screwdriver that fits perfectly, as that will only make it worse.

I got a perfect screwdiver matching the screws! The problem is it is only getting worse because it's seriously too tight and is only damaging the screw if i force it.

So what can you tell me more about corrosion without fear-mongering me :D

All phillips head screwdrivers will match the screws. You need one that FITS the screws! You'll need a #00 or #0, just get both, in order to disassemble that notebook.

Jesus how often do i need to tell that i got the perfect matching phillips screwdivers!?

The problem isn't the screwdiver it's one last screw tightened way too much (for the 100th time i say this now) :D - The screwdiver is matching but no matter how much i turn it's not moving at all.

And if i force it it's just damaging the screw itself.

Don't worry about it too much? :D

If it's already dry inside, chances are it will keep working. Worst case, you may have to buy a new one down the road, but isn't that how things go anyway? An upgrade every couple of years sounds about right.

As someone mentioned, you can get a refund on your Applecare if you purchased one.

I usually replace my laptops between 6 - 12 months anyway. If it lasts that long then all good!

What do you mean "refund" on Applecare?

Haha, yep, they're fairly resistant. I've both thrown coke and water on my non-unibody MBP, and it's still working (Both by accident, and the coke was on my second day of ownership).

Either I'm incredibly lucky, or Apple builds heavily resistant machines. :D

Since you're taking it apart, you could wash wine residue (if there is any) off circuits with deionized water, then let dry again for a few days.

I almost had a Yakult incident the other day, but luckily no liquid went inside my MBP, but it came very close to the keyboard and scared the buhjesus out of me!

I had a glass of sugary liquor spilled into a G4 PB and there wasn't corrosion so much as it just would never get fully clean.

I took it completely apart more than once and got into all the tiny little areas with a Q-tip and alcohol. About 3 months after a cleaning at the left over sugar residue would get all black and cruddy again.

Also I once had my laptop outside and i found ants getting into it.
That was a little troubling.

Wow, people are trying to help you out and you're acting like an a$$. And you haven't said it a 100 times so stop exaggerating. :D

You jacked up your computer with wine... I think a stuck screw is the least of your problems. You should drill the screw out and replace it once you get the wine out of your computer. It doesn't matter if you have a nice screw in your computer if the insides are all clogged with wine. Have to tried taking it to Apple to see they can open it? What do you have to lose, the insides of your laptop are toast if you don't get that wine out, and your Applecare is no good anymore. Now you'll probably yell at me too.

I wasn't trying to be an ass and sorry if it sounded so but i wrote a couple of times before that i can't open it up because one, only one final screw doesn't come out. there's no way to get it off unless i damage the whole case.

So i let it be and it's still all working. I'll just go with my luck and hopefully it should all be good for the upcoming months.

Well **** happens and it just happened to me. My dog knocked over a full glass of wine onto my fairly new MBP and it went all inside the keyboard...

Posted about 13 hours later:

ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND????

You didn't gave it time to dry, and you even acknowledge you didn't clean it out properly because of a stubborn screw... and yet you decided it was ok to give it a try...

Now that I think about it, at least we can say you are consistent with yourself: it is the same big mistake you made when trying to power-up immediately after the spill. You deserve the failure coming on a few days.

Sorry, but I find difficult to believe someone will feel inclined to help you anymore.
