Nice, now ebay it and buy a new one![]()
Someone needs to give Apple a nobel-prize.
Yes you're hearing right i'm writing from the MBP.
These mofos are resistant it seems.
I went to get proper screwdivers but still couldn't unscrew the last tiny little bitch because it was too tight. So i said **** it, i put all the screws back in, memory and battery too and started up and it works!
Let's see for how long. I hope the corrosion thing isn't gonna happen though.
Even though it's working now, I would still let it dry for a while longer with the battery out (another 24 hours) just to be safe. Then I would try taking it apart again and then use a damp cloth to try and get all of the wine residue. That way, the sugar won't do any more damage.
Get a keyboard protector. They are cheap compared to replacing your laptop or voiding its waranty.
Last time I was sitting at the pro counter there was a woman who bought in her teenaged daughters laptop. It had been in for spills 3 times. I told her "get a keyboard protector" and she actually said, "they are too ugly". Alrighty then. BTW her home insurance was paying for her and her daughters idiotocracy.
There will be corrosion if you leave it like this. Try to find a proper screwdriver and take it apart. Don't force the screw if you don't have a screwdriver that fits perfectly, as that will only make it worse.
All phillips head screwdrivers will match the screws. You need one that FITS the screws! You'll need a #00 or #0, just get both, in order to disassemble that notebook.
So what can you tell me more about corrosion without fear-mongering me![]()
Don't worry about it too much?
If it's already dry inside, chances are it will keep working. Worst case, you may have to buy a new one down the road, but isn't that how things go anyway? An upgrade every couple of years sounds about right.
As someone mentioned, you can get a refund on your Applecare if you purchased one.
I presume he means you can get a refund for the amount you paid for your AppleCare...What do you mean "refund" on Applecare?
Since you're taking it apart, you could wash wine residue (if there is any) off circuits with deionized water, then let dry again for a few days.So what can you tell me more about corrosion without fear-mongering me![]()
Testing a wet computer by turning it on generally is about as smart as lighting a match to see if there is gas in the tank.
I got a perfect screwdiver matching the screws! The problem is it is only getting worse because it's seriously too tight and is only damaging the screw if i force it.
So what can you tell me more about corrosion without fear-mongering me![]()
Jesus how often do i need to tell that i got the perfect matching phillips screwdivers!?
The problem isn't the screwdiver it's one last screw tightened way too much (for the 100th time i say this now)- The screwdiver is matching but no matter how much i turn it's not moving at all.
And if i force it it's just damaging the screw itself.
Wow, people are trying to help you out and you're acting like an a$$. And you haven't said it a 100 times so stop exaggerating.
You jacked up your computer with wine... I think a stuck screw is the least of your problems. You should drill the screw out and replace it once you get the wine out of your computer. It doesn't matter if you have a nice screw in your computer if the insides are all clogged with wine. Have to tried taking it to Apple to see they can open it? What do you have to lose, the insides of your laptop are toast if you don't get that wine out, and your Applecare is no good anymore. Now you'll probably yell at me too.
Your MBP is drunk from all that wine, let it rest from its hangover and hopefully it'll be okay.![]()
Well **** happens and it just happened to me. My dog knocked over a full glass of wine onto my fairly new MBP and it went all inside the keyboard...
...Yes you're hearing right i'm writing from the MBP... Let's see for how long. I hope the corrosion thing isn't gonna happen though.
