WOW! Apple takes cash for iPad's now, its been said about 3 times now in this thread with sources, They take it!
If you look at how Apple has handled previous launches, it's normal for them to INITIALLY not accept cash, and once supply starts to meet demand, they'll drop that policy.

They've done that MULTIPLE times.

So just because they dropped the "no cash" policy months after the iPad launch does NOT guarantee that the iPad 2 will launch accepting cash.

lol overtime someone says something conflicting with no sources, some other person will come in the thread and will say "WTF THEY WONT TAKE MY CASH" its all unnecessary drama.

Not sure why you quoted my post and why you are so worked up. I was merely pointing out that there are other stores selling the iPad that would probably never block cash transactions.

My bank puts a block on any transaction over $500. Don't wanna go through the hassle of calling CS to remove block, esp. on launch day. Anyone know? Ta.

why dont you just call your local apple store and ask them?

just curious.. is this the same for iPhone on launch days..? Becasue last launch i thought there was no cash for iPhone.

You must be very naive.

How many times have I called Apple stores before and inquired about something only to arrive to the store and find out it was not true, then simply be apologized for being given false information? Enough not to bother calling Apple stores ever again.

i can see it now, launch day ipad2 buyers as they walk out of the store:

and any "info" gained here is better, or offers more accountability when incorrect?

I guess I'm just surprised that in the time spent following this thread it wouldn't have been possible to call the bank and request a temporary daily limit increase for tomorrow.

You're not guaranteed to get a correct answer here, either.

AFAIK, Apple hasn't publicly said anything about cash transcations for this launch.

For all iPhone/iPad launches since the orig iPhone, they have not accepted cash for launches and dropped that policy later.

Who knows what they'll do tomorrow?

how about calling up the place you're going to buy it from? Not sure why this is a thread.

if you can't trust what an employee says over the phone, you shouldn't be buying anything from that establishment.

Not that it means anything as other people have stated but I did call the apple store and they said they'd be accepting all forms or payment for the new iPad. So whether the person knew what they were talking about is anyones guess.

I'm hoping they allow cash. I'm a HS student, so my parents were going to give me cash to purchase it. I would deposit it tomorrow, but I'm not sure if it would be credited to my account on time.

I hate how cash is becoming unacceptable these days. Money is money.

I've just called my local Apple Store (Memorial Mall, Houston TX). They've told me they accept cash for the iPad 2. :)

I payed cash for my iPad and my iPhone 4. I'll be paying cash for my iPad 2 tomorrow. I really don't understand the controversy.
