If I hear the word entitled or entitlement one more damn time on one of these threads i'm going to scream.... I'm entitled to an entitlement free thread!!!!!

No offense, but you sound like an elitist. Electronics break dude. And you didn't have to rush right back over when you found the problem. You could have waited a day or two. I swear you would have lived through it.

And you waited for an hour?? Lemme guess. You didn't make a genius bar appointment either & just decided you were more important than everyone else who did.

I agree you should have a working phone, but there's no need in being a jerk to people to be "compensated". Like I said, things break.
Wrong! I had an 11:30 appointment, which if you searched at all you would have saw.

I bought the phone on launch day. That makes 5 days. Would 7 have been okay by you? Where have I been a jerk? I called Apple, talked to someone who could make a choice, and they AGREED and offered compensation.

I fully agree that companies should be held accountable for defective products, whether a unit is defective or there is a design flaw. I just don't get the whole, "I demand more compensation than what I originally invested" mentality.

I agree as long as my inconvenience and expense is reasonable.

If I had to make several trips back to the store and/or spent hours on the phone, the yeah, I'd be entitled to extra compensation.

I wouldn't expect, however, the $130 value the OP got right off the bat.

Good for you for getting compensated for being inconvenienced. You had a problem, you called the manufacturer and they did something about it.

I would do the same. More people should do it.

It's not a matter of asking for free things. It's a matter of letting someone know you are not satisfied with their service.

I don't get what all the hate is about on this forum. It's not like you didn't purchase the phone or were some anti-Mac troll.
Exactly. Don't worry guys. The apple logo wont disappear from your device if you express your issue. I promise.

I wasn't looking for something extra. Just what I Originally bought to work as it should. The supervisor agreed. Take it up with her.

but earlier you said, "We went over a variety of compensation options and I tried to get a gift card but they said (after calling THEIR supervisor that a gift card was the one thing they couldn't do)"

Right. I wasn't looking for compensation the day I walked in, OR the day I came for a replacement. Only after 2 defective devices did I think it was right.

Perhaps it's the lack of demanding things to work as they should that leads to products not.

I asked for a $50 gift card. They couldn't do that. She offered Mobile Me off the bat. I asked for a bumper + Mobile Me. She agreed.

If you complain enough you can get anything. Ultimately, we all pay for that though. Apple has had some issue with this device (my reception is currently iffy) but comparing a tiny yellow speck that most people would not even notice to someone being accidentally killed is ludicrous. Enjoy your mobile me and bumper. I'm glad you managed to survive.

ash =o)

Why would I have searched? So you're making multiple threads/comments on the same subject?? Nice.

No, I meant wait a couple days after you got your first replacement. Make an appt & go back again. It wouldn't have killed you.

And yeah dude, I'm so sure you called up Apple Care all jolly jipper & politely spoke about what you were "owed".

Give us all a break with this. We aren't retarded. You had a mission. You got what you wanted & then some. Let it go now & spare us all the entitlement garbage with this pointless thread.

Good job OP.

While I do not condone people expecting compensation right off the bat for minor issues, I do agree that people should be compensated for time/energy expended for an issue that should NOT be an issue from the start. Period.

Maybe when companies start realizing that all that compensation is cutting into their bottom line, they will get a better grasp on quality control and delivering a much better product to the customer.

I don't mind being inconvenienced once for a minor issue. However, a second, third or fourth time - forget it. As was the case for my 3GS. My iPhone 4 on the other hand, no issues except the reception problem. That needs to be fixed.

Everyone else needs to chill out. This forum has turned into a pre-school play ground.

I already have Mobile Me. And I have a case. I thought to offer me 2 products I already own equals out. Flame away.

That wasn't the point of my post. I was pointing out that you first said you didn't ask for anything extra. Then you said you asked for extra stuff.

you need a hug? or just a bumper? I think I know of 1 that may end up on ebay soon...

they're compensating you by giving you a free replacement

Doesn't that fall in to Statutory Consumer Rights... the product had a fault and was returned in under the allotted time which would entitle them to a replacement or a full refund, a replacement was chosen and also found to be faulty. So the OP main a complaint and got imo a fair amount of compensation. Getting a replacement handset while under the stores allotted returns time due to a fault doesn't count as any form of Compensation lol!

If it was me and I had received two "defective" handsets then I wouldn't have been happy either.
