That's weird

What's weird is that I was just discussing potential responses to such a threat against the Tyson's and Clarendon stores, about 12 hours before this incident happened.

There was an assumption that you don't open the back door for somebody that you don't know is supposed to be there, and if you do, make sure that you're not alone.

They got a picture of the suspect

Here is a security cam shot of the perp. Looks pretty shady...

Does anyone know the name of the employee? Or a description?

There's a description in the article:
U.S. Park Police helicopter and Arlington police K-9 units searched for the suspect, but did not find him. He was described as a black male, between the ages of 35 and 45, with a medium build and facial hair. He was last seen fleeing the area on foot, wearing a light-colored, short sleeve shirt, light-colored long pants and a dark baseball cap. He was carrying a handgun.

Police said they would release security camera video of the shooting to aid in the search.

such a sad story, i hope she recovers just fine and that the guy is found. granted things like this happen every day all over the place, its always tragic.

It is literally yards from the Arlington Courthouse, jail, and police.

Just goes to show you that the police can't be everywhere at once.

A low life wouldn't know that Apple stores rely mostly on credit and not cash. He would simply think since the Apple store is so popular that it must have loads of cash on hand.

I would imagine this person commiting the crime sees large ticket items equating to big cash tils. We know that is not the case.
this perp was only as smart as the bullet that hit the employee.

I hope she is ok and makes a speedy recovery. Unfortuantely that ingorant preeks actions will probably scar her for life.

What in the hell? What's wrong with you people for making jokes to this? I bet if it was your daughter, girlfriend or wife who got shot, you'd SHUT THE HELL UP then.

Anyways, I'm so glad the woman sustained NON-threatening injuries. I wish her a speedy recovery!

I heard it was Ballmer, and that Bill was waiting in the car with the engine on... they realized this because the robber was quite clumsy and the "other" guy was waiting on a big limo...

Hope the girl has a speedy recovery, a sad state of affairs really.

Anyone making lighthearted remarks about this should really be ashamed of themselves.

Yes, it's a terrible thing to happen and I too hope the young woman injured survives and makes a full recovery.

I would personally tend to agree that this is not a good story to be making light of, but people deal with bad news in different ways. Light-hearted comments/jokes aren't necessarily a sign of people wanting to offend, rather often just a way of dealing with the crazy horrible stuff that goes on in the world, even if that comes across as inappropriate to others.

That is true, people tend to deal with things uniquely. Still, some level of human decency shouldn't be too much to ask. But then again, I think a person should be able to make it through a whole day without getting shot, so what do I know? I sincerely hope the employee recovers quickly.

Wow. I was just at that store. I walked up to the doors when a cop on the inside gave me the "don't come any closer" wave. I was actually wondering why they would have two cops inside an Apple store...

if it was someone parked in front of a fire hydrant there would have been 3 squad cars on site immediately
