No one here can answer that but I suspect it will be rectified soon. Also which is correct or are they both wrong?
It doesn't really matter which is right or wrong as long as they both say the same thing (whatever it is).

Like everyone else said, it's a 3-piece band that fits both sizes.

Hey I might even mix and match between mine and my wife's bands. It might be cool to have more than one color band!

There is NO difference and both are the same. One description needs to be change or maybe both to reflect the 3 pieces to make all size options.

I agree. They should have put "One set of band" under the general description for both Watch Sport and Watch. Even if you get two Sport bands--one S/M and one M/L--and a fastener, it's still essentially one set of band. This would have prevented the mass confusion and unnecessary wishful thinking that you'd be able to trade the spare set of Sport band.

You could always trade and mix the extra ½ band you're not using with another Watch owner. As an example; You are a size (Black) M/L, you trade your unused (Black) S/M for to another Watch user who is a size (White) S/M, for their ½ unused (White) M/L. Then you could mix the two, black off of one side and white off the other side of the watch. I wouldn't wear it that way, but younger Watch wearers could own that look.
Just say'n yo...

I don't doubt some kids will make this cool and start a trend, but it'll likely be popular only with the under 20 crowd.

ehh... 3 points for TWO BANDS

1. at the try on this morning the rep clearly stated there were "two complete bands" in the box. I was going to order a second strap, and he told me he was just going to swap the extra one out with a band swapping service ($6-10), and recommended I do the same.

2. on the apple website, the "what's in the box" clearly states TWO BANDS. Not one, not one and a half... TWO BANDS.

3. so... in light of the rampant rumors, and the fact that even the bandswapper.com folks are confused, I decided to go to Apple directly and ask.
There is a screenshot of the end of the conversation at the link below, but was told that there are two completely separate bands. "Two bands.; one for 38mm, and one for 42mm" in his exact words.

My guess is all the unofficial unboxing videos are just that... and when the actual ones start shipping, two bands will be in the box, not 1-1/2 bands. Or, perhaps the knock-off watches only have one band? In any event, time will tell. Hopefully I am right on this one, as I would rather spend $6 to swap my extra band for a black one, than cough up $49. cheers.

You see, I had the exact same conversation with Apple support online and they said the same thing. The lady I spoke said she asked her supervisor and he confirmed it.

PS Love the "build em quickly" comment :)

I hope you are right, but, we won't know for sure until people start getting their watches.

Sounds like the rep was confused. Two bands aren't one for 38mm and one for 42mm, but one S/M and one M/L.

The rep that profmatt chatted with was wrong too….

Yes, I noticed that... however what you don't see is the rest of the conversation. I only screenshot the tail end. I asked the question 3 different ways, I even brought up the rumor mill, and the posts on MacRumors. I said the rumor is saying "three pieces", and asked... is it three, or four pieces. They said two complete straps. Period. They said the straps were different sizes, small and large, and they were two fully complete bands.

Now, am I 100% sure? No, not until it comes out on the 24th. However, I don't understand why the "unboxings" and leaked photos are getting so much credence, and empirical evidence in hand is not. Time will tell... hoping I am correct! cheers.

The lack of S/M and M/L stamping on the fastener (indicating that it's one size fits all) and the screenshot of the unboxing showing imprints for the 3 pieces are pretty much concrete evidence.

We've shown repeatedly that reps are often wrong so there's no reason to believe them over the aforementioned evidence.

yeah, but for one thing. The products have not shipped yet. Period.
You have to admit, there is an entire industry built up to make fake, pre-release stuff.

I did exactly the same. I was very specific about it, which was why she went to ask her supervisor.

I'm not saying I'm right. I'm just not clear who's right any more. I guess we'll find out. In June. When the first watches ship. Hahaha.

So you're suggesting that the unboxing might be that of a fake product?

I guess people will continue their wishful thinking until it's actually in their hand.

This and all day this. Csr's are as confused as the next person. Especially outsourced workforces.

also, when buying the band by itself, there is no choice of size...why would they give you two complete bands if they could cut the costs in half and have you order the size you want instead of giving you two complete units?

I fully expect to receive 3 parts...annoyingly, there are people out there that KNOW the answer to this, and yet that information hasn't filtered down to the people buying the watches.

When you buy the Sport band separately, you're still getting two bands (one S/M and one M/L) and a fastener. It's for the same reason why they're including three pieces in the Watch Sport retail boxes, so they can cut the SKUs in half then if they were to box the S/M and M/L sizes separately. Rubber bands cost next to nothing to make (likely under $2 for the three-piece set).

I'm also annoyed that none of the over 100 journalists who viewed the hands on models cannot confirm whether the Space Gray on the Watch Sport is the same color as iPhone/iPad's Space Gray or darker as it seems to appear in real-life photos.

2 kinds - 2 full for Sport and 1 (3 piece) for Stainless Steel or Stand Alone order!

I talked with Apple Rep and they confirmed that you get 2 with the sport model (they said the sport will be prone to wear out quicker due to working out, and therefore get 2!)
They said you only get 1 when ordering the Stainless Steel Watch with Sport band. Here's where I'm doing a little guessing....They verified you cannot choose a S/M or M/L when ordering the Stainless Steel, and also could not say if you get S/M or M/L with your order, but that you definitely only get 1 Band with the Stainless Steel Watch. This is probably a 3 piece (1 band) that comes with the Stainless Steel or when you order a Sport Band by itself!! Whatcha think??:apple:

Wow, I'm shocked at the BS that those reps are spreading. So if you wear out the M/L band, you should be able to switch to the S/M band even though it won't fit you? And everyone who ordered the base SS models (with the Sport band) has no idea whether they'll get the S/M or M/L band? Surprise them, right?

Yep, very confusing!!

Exactly, that was where the Rep's story failed...They told me if I received the wrong band with the Stainless Steel model, Apple would switch it out! Really! That's why when I saw the 3 piece photos, I thought that must be the answer for the SS model. O well, 4/24 will be here soon.

And don't get me started on the 4/24 - 5/8 delivery...O man, I ordered at 12:02am and if get delivery on 5/8....that will be very vey bad, very very bad LOL :D:apple::D

I was going to say the same about...

The "unboxing" itself is not real, as the actual mass market product simply has not shipped. Period. I have no clue whether they are "unboxing" a fake, a preview sample, or maybe even the actual thing. While you are sure, I am not, and at least I admit that.

You seem to be ignoring the various inconsistencies in the visuals provided. I am content waiting until the 24th to find out who is right and who is wrong.

you do understand that all apple products (With the exception of the mac pro) are manufactured in china right? With a little imaginiation, its not hard to believe this guy couldn't get his hand on a watch. And you don't even know if this guy works at Apple over there. I mean ffs, certain chosen people have been wearing them since the apple event.

And even on top of all of that, if it WAS indeed a fake, it just so happen that his "fake" version has 3 strap-parts in this beautifully crafted replica of packaging that he would be so bold to show the world THIS CLOSE TO THE ACTUAL RELEASE -- HOPING that he has it right? Wow Cmon man.
