Ah, I do miss quickreply though. especially since it was updated. And a few other choice apps. Backgrounder will be nice with the 4 though, with the 3G it would usually close the 2nd one out of two you had open :D

OTA updates, thats pretty funny.

Really lookin forward to the JB. It'll be like christmas when I finally see it. :)

Hopefully we will see the jailbreak after the first 4.x.x update. Really missing lockinfo and bitesms, no to mention my blow off valve SMS tone.

read this today....... I must say...sounds scary.

Apple store employees recently have not been bragging about the new features of the iPhone 4 but about the blocks made against unlockers and jailbreakers. They are saying the over air updates or OAU that runs every seven to fourteen days. This OAU gathers information from the iPhone and reports it to Apple. Information gathered includes the firmware and baseband version running on the phone.

As a part of the OAU there are mandatory and optional updates. You can choose to install the optional updates immediately or wait until a later time. As far as the mandatory updates they are required to be installed in order for the phone to function with AT&T. Your only option is to accept and install the update. You have to connect your phone up to iTunes to install the update. If you do not do this you will not have phone service.

If you installed iTunes 9.2 you accepted the terms and conditions as well as when you install iOS4. This implies that if you are able to unlock iPhone 4 it will only work for a maximum of fourteen days. This will become a hassle if you have to unlock your iPhone every seven to fourteen days.

With this new OAU AT&T and Apple have complete control of the iPhone device and what can and cannot be installed on it. Apple store employees have also been reported to have said that they have been instructed to not support iPhone that has been unlocked or jailbroke.

It is absolutely true, just see this screen shot of a carrier update that proves it, ignore the Rogers logo at the top left.

Can't wait for my Verizon iPhone I have been hearing is coming for the last two years.
These rumors are always fact.
Tongue inserted in cheek. :)

Whether its true or not does not matter, the jailbreak can and will disable any features such as these, they aren't stupid ;)

I just wanted everyone to notice how ridiculous it is to use a screen shot of a Rogers iPhone with a carrier update in an article about ATT disabling jailbroken iPhones via a carrier update.

The funny thing about that is, if you Jailbreak and unlock and use a different carrier, how are AT&T going to be able to check/do whatever they do?

What a load of bull****.

to be honest, the best way that apple can prevent people jailbreaking is through the spread of misinformation. its not as if they are above this. why would you even pay attention to what apple says anymore?

they can't tell that it ever was modified.

yes the ycan, you know those crash reports that you get promted to send apple when you first plug in your iphone/ipod touch? crash reports are sent for all apps, even Cydia, Rock app, i am assuming that Apple can see these.

couldnt you say that you bought it used while still under warranty and that the previous owner must have jailbroken it? would they still deny coverage? i feel like apple's warranty dept would err on the side of no drama. have there been any reports of people who restored it after jb not getting coverage?

And of course I never agree to send anything from any of my electronic devices to anyone.

You don't have to, the information is stored on the device itself, when you take it to the apple store and they run there diagnostic they can see it, whether they do anything about it is entirely different.

And of course anytime I take anything to the so called Apple geniuses, it is scrubbed completely clean. In out of the box condition.

Unless I have a significant hardware failure, I don't let anyone touch my phone, ever.

iFile. Probably my favorite Jailbreak app.

Me too.
I like the Apple folders better so I won't mess with them, but I do miss:

Lockinfo, iFile, Downloadmanager, and status bar notifications. The themes and stuff are fun, too, but not necessity for me just yet.

I strongly believe all of that information is removed when you restore back to factory firmware. Otherwise as another member alluded to, we would have heard reports of people being turned away from the Apple store after they restored their device back to factory. I've never heard of such an incident.

no. Because those crashlogs arent carried over from the so called "previous owner" those crash logs are only relative to iDevices synced to your computer. I do not think they would believe you.
