Meth is the scariest drug I've ever heard of. It is not something to mess with. I've watched it literally destroy people in less than a year.
@Mord- my comment was simply that people should not have to take a drug to be open and loving, nothing more. It had nothing to do with anything else.
That is definitely scary then.
Working as a community health outreach (volunteer) social worker with HIV positive people addicted to heroin, and sharing needles, the drug and it's shared needle usage terrified us.
In the many cases I saw, I never saw anybody with both HIV and heroin addiction get destroyed in just one year. Usually, it was a prolonged issue and it usually took ten years from either picking up the heroin habit, or contracting HIV before anybody died from it.
Because heroin rarely kills instantly (unlike cocaine form the famous Len Bias/Celtics case), we had time to get many people off of heroin and onto HIV drug cocktails and some of the people we helped nearly 18 years ago are alive today.
The cocaine users I knew back then if they stayed with the drug, either died, were murdered, or overdosed. I get the feeling that meth is very similar to cocaine in that way. By the time meth got big, I was out of the social worker business, but we have had killings over meth territory, mostly Ns vs Ss.
