So, a week from today will be the 16th, the second half of the month, and the first day we could expect a white iPhone 4 launch.

Anyone else excited? Care to take a guess as to the actual date we'll see them? Or even if/when Apple will give out more specific launch information.

I hope it's by the end of july, I'll return my black one for it.

If it's between 24th-31st, I can go a week without a phone so we shall see.

Super excited... unlike all these clowns who bought a black one just to return it, I'm actually waiting for it.

Speculation: pre-orders will begin next Tuesday and will deliver 10-14 days later and will come with 4.0.1 preinstalled.

Bam!

try a month and a half without one. (I sold my 3gs the 17th)

I highly doubt it'll go on sale/pre-order before the 24th.

I'm guessing preorders start late/end of july, actually phones ship august, so i'll prob. keep my black if that's the case.

If I had to take an honest guess at it, I'd say preorders start LATE july, phones ship in august.

Apple's wording indicates otherwise.

"Available in late july". Pre orders don't make the phone available.

We'll just have to see though. I check apple's site hourly so I don't miss out on preordering.

Call me foolishly optimistic, but I think Apple will surprise us and start preorders early next week. ;)

Yes, since apples wording is always up to par ;)

Wrong.

"White models of Apple’s new iPhone® 4 have proven more challenging to manufacture than expected, and as a result they will not be available until the second half of July."

I'm hoping soon!
I have the black now and will be giving it to my sister once the white becomes available.
Good thing multiple lines on my family plan we're available for upgrade. :)

Their wording was pretty up to par for the black iPhone 4 launch.

I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO sorry I wrote "late" instead of "2nd half".

I think you missed the entire point of my post. Good catch though. I'm glad we have you around.

It's a distinct difference. You're assuming they mean end of July when they never said that. They said 2nd half. Yea of course that could still mean the end of July rather than the middle but their wording left it very much in the air.

Well, seems so far we have:

Best case scenario: Pre-orders next week, phones ship by the end of July.
Worst case scenario: Pre-orders July 31st, phones ship out mid-August.

I of course am hoping for the best-case scenario.

Well technically we were suppose to already have the white phone too ;)

And there is no antenna issues.. etc etc ;)

But in all reality, I think it would be a VERY stupid business move to make ordering or anything available before the 24th.... they will be flooded with returns I feel.

Maybe only 5% return, but still 5% of 600,000 initial orders is quite a bit.

I am pretty sure it'll be out in July because they have enough negative press. They might not do a pre-order at all.

Just going by what Apple has stated the best case scenario is pre-orders next week and delivery on July 16th. Why do they *have* to be shipped at the end of July?

100% agree with the 24th comment. I can see them releasing the 31st, so they can avoid all those returns.

Assuming they release the 31st we could see pre orders as early as the 20th.

You do realize that accidentally typing "late" instead of "2nd half" had absolutely zero impact on the point I was trying to make.

"By the end of July" does not equal ON the end of July. I just didn't feel like picking a date. Plus, next week is the 16th, so if they want to do pre-orders with delivery on the 16th, they're going to have to announce something within the next couple of days.
