Not bad.

Cons:
1. Android means low security on two fronts. Phones (the hardware) running flavors of Android are much more vulnerable than iPhones. In addition, Chinese phones have back doors for the Chinese government. Not joking. I work in east Asia.
2. No matter how nice the Android OS skin is superficially, it's still lipstick on a pig.
3. There is no ecosystem eg. all Apple hardware. Going all-in with devices running Android does not qualify as an ecosystem.
4. Subpar camera.

Pros:
1. Edge to edge is nice.
2. Very fast 30w charging.
3. Nice footprint.
4. Sufficient build quality.

concerning your first point it’s false, the proof being that 0-day vulnerability on Android costs more than iOS ones
But you are right for Chinese spyware unfortunately

I did point out the OS, but I should've been more clear. I am including the hardware because we are comparing the security of the phones here. Obviously any OS can be hacked.

iPhone SEP is the most secure mobile processor core on the planet. It has never been breached and probably never will be. Only the SEP encryption key has been compromised, but that was just an additional layer of security that Apple knew would inevitably be cracked just like most software. It doesn't compromise the data. It's just one of the reasons why having a hardware wallet on an iPhone is safer than Ledger/Trezor.

There is currently no phone that is as secure as the iPhone.

There is just something so off putting about android phones.

The operating system is horrible. It reminds me of going to waffle hojsento get a a steak vs a premium steakhouse. Yeah, I will get full but the end result is crap. Literally.
I’m old enough to remember when Microsoft released a camera phone 10+ years ago that was “40+ megapixels” and it was complete trash. 48 megapixels on a camera phone today isn’t much improved since Microsoft’s attempt!

What are you talking about lol. I had the Lumia 1020 and it's camera was praised. They even compared it to modern smartphones today. The only issue was the software was slow but the quality was amazing.
I've had both iPhones and Android phones. For several years I owned both at the same time. Android as my personal and iPhone for work.

I've owned two OnePlus phones a 6T and a 7 Pro. I've had the 7 Pro for almost a year now.
For those that think the build quality of the OnePlus phones is sub par, you are mistaken.
For those that think Android is junk, again you are mistaken.
Android with the correct skin is on par with iOS and in some ways better due to the opportunity of customization.
Both are Unix/Linux beneath the skin just a gui on top. Android is Linux and iOS is BSD.

I like OnePlus because I can unlock the bootloader and do what I want.
I own the phone. With iOS you never really "own" the phone.
Apple decides when your phone is obsolete. Once they stop offering any update, the phone is done.

I own my iPhone and it does what I need it to do with no issues and without having to hsck it to be a useful device unlike android

I have a 108 megapixels phone right now (Xiaomi note 10) and to be honest, it's a really good phone, the pictures are incredible, for 400$ it's crazy (if you put privacy apart and are ready to give all your data to China AND google 😅). The only drawback is the size of the picture (18 Mo) so if you don't want to be short on storage you shouldn't always take a 108-megapixel picture.
Don't forget that 108-megapixel pictures are not real 108 megapixels, the camera uses pixel binning to combines pixel in order to improve the overall quality

Good to see the inevitable parochial posts appearing.
It's because they are connected with Google. What that means is that without much if any proof posters can claim they must be selling your dental records, shoe size and hair colour to someone they cant actually name. All because it's fashoinable to get upvotes for doing so.

Why doesn't Apple offer more colors on a stainless steel phone? Oh, I don't know... might have something to do with the whole process when it comes to applying colors to STAINLESS STEEL, as previously talked about when the iPhone X launched. Green is the first attempt, as Apple found a way to do it without the color rubbing off with normal use.

Very nice the green is too.

I have used both iOS and Android (recently switched to an iPhone 11 after many years using Android).

For me, the advantages of switching to iOS are security and longevity. Even the best Android experience (Google pixel) only gets around two and a half years of security updates.

The disadvantages of switching to iOS were that it is less user friendly and usable than Android. The differences aren’t great, but they add up. There are a bunch of little paper cuts in iOS that simply didn’t crop up in Android. Little things that made life easier with Android that simply cannot be done with my iPhone. For me, iOS is a slightly less polished, less pleasant user experience. I understand that others might have a different opinion

Having to choose between the two I have settled on better security and longevity and don’t regret the switch for those reasons.

The one plus has a mediocre track record for updates. Compared to Apple and Google, its camera performance has also historically been sub par. Now that it is priced in the stratosphere along with Apple, it has to step up in these two key areas. I sincerely doubt that they will though. When it comes to having an Android phone that competes with Apple, there really aren’t any that are directly apples to apples (yeah yeah... puns).

You can get a (for me) superior OS experience and comparable camera by getting a pixel. But then you miss out on the hardware advantage that the iPhone offers (and the price/years of service is abysmal for the pixel). You can get arguably better specs on the screen and some other hardware with the one plus, but you miss out on the camera and the software update situation is a dumpster fire.

My dream, never to be realized I’m sure, is an operating system closer to the Android user experience with an update and privacy policy close to Apple’s.

Maybe the pine phone. 😊

I don’t get the iOS superiority complex. Android in 2020 is a full-featured modern OS that looks and functions very well.

What we need to talk about though is the app parity situation. Android might be a great OS but the play store is rubbish when it comes to decent software, especially premium games and useful apps. Premium games struggle on Android whereas iOS is easily a rival to Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft when it comes to quality games. Just look at the Fortnite debacle.

Like this?

It's 2020 and there are still people spouting this fanboy rubbish?

You are more likely to get hacked and have your personal details stolen running Android.

That is a fact not rubbish.

Just FYI, sometimes iOS is the crappy one. If you're traveling and trying to use hotspots, iOS sucks balls.

And ofc, notch still looks like crap.

If your open to a higher risk of being hacked and to having your personal details stolen, then Android is for you!

Well done great decision!

i wish Apple could just clean up their iphone design- they have the teams to do so. Some are the androids I've seen have been more attractive and sleeker than recent iphones- however you cannot beat the smoothness and functionality of the ios sytem.

Android is essentially what happens when you just throw random features in just to say you were first. But for the most part, they are good for some and half baked for most.

"I didn't have a chance to compare cameras because I've only had the phone a couple of days."
"I'm not going to compare performance because I don't believe its possible to compare different operating systems. Besides, if you're into cameras, you don't care" (since when??)

I translate this to "If Apple is better, I don't wanna talk about it. I like TEAL!"

I mean, it isn't that much of a comparison. I am sure it is a fine phone. Just review the phone and don't bother calling it a comparison. I think OnePlus makes a solid phone. This may not be the best time to step into flagship pricing. They probably could have killed it with something more reasonable just because a lot of people are looking to save some money right now.
This so much. I like how he bragged about 120 Hz display but didn’t give any specifics on battery life. What good is a fancy display if the phone doesn’t stay on all day? You’ll be looking at your fancy display for half the day and then a black screen for the other half. I don’t miss the days of realizing my phone is on 10% battery when it’s only 2PM

Unless you live in China there’s no need to worry about them having a back door to your phone. What exactly are they going to do with the average person’s information. Now of course if you work for the government or something that’s a different story. The average user should be more worried about the country they're living in getting information from Google.
