Real-life MacRumors Forums would be a ton of fun. :)

Maybe in 35-45 years MacForums will be like a mini Matrix where we can all meet face to face, drink beer, play sports, etc... (oh, meet chicks)

Perhaps if this were a real life forum, certain mofos would think twice before calling a person who buys an iPad and idiot.

I've met a lot of people from this website:

mkrishnan
PlaceofDis
Raid
Abstract
Eraserhead
rdowns
ezzie
TehDonDitty
LimeiBook
ChipNoVaMac
JNB
zimv20
scem0 (who I dated for 2 years)

And last but not least, my beloved Captain America- Iscariot. :)

Everyone I've met has been great.

You could always meet up with people from different towns occasionally :)

yeahh it would be cool :)
I'd really love to meet everyone though, well, all the regular posters that i see... like lee, rdowns, arn (okay not regular but interesting) just to name a few! They all just seems like such interesting people.. its weird, i feel like i begin to know them the more im on here, i see their thoughts, humor and feelings almost every day and its just... interesting, entertaining!

ah i dunno :D

Oh- it's definitely a good time. Everyone I've met in real life from the site is cool. Oh- and I've also met ziggy pastorious and devilot.

Have you ever thought about how it would be if the conversations here
at macrumours where to take place over a cup of coffee or a beer?

Im a design student currently researching social medias affect on people.
Specifically looking at the possibility to take online discussions offline.

So i'm asking you guys right here, would you be interested in meeting up
fellow mac enthusiasts somewhere for a chat,
by that i mean a proper face to face chat?
(or maybe some of you already are?)

I understand that distance between users would be a big thing to overcome,
but then again, a large forum like this is bound to have people from the same areas connecting.

A couple of years ago I was a regular at a very techie computer forum.
There get-togethers were arranged, people attended and where very happy with that experience.
Has the same thing been done here? why not? / how was it?

I'm really keen on hearing your thoughts regarding the social media
explosion and how it affects real life relations.

Felix

I've been there, and it's surprisingly nowhere near as awkward as you'd expect.

I play Super Smash Bros Brawl competitively, and have travelled across the country to tournaments. The interesting bit about this hobby is that you get to meet many people in the enormous community online- discussing theory, frame data, rulesets, exploits- and become very familiar with and somewhat attached to these people you only know through AIM and forums. And then, one day- you all meet up at a big national tournament and go out for lunch like you've known each other forever.

It's an interesting experience, and a rather unique one.
