From the looks of the updated Apple Store there is only SS versions available with cellular which means you are stuck with the red dot on the classy looking version?! How can this be a good idea?

Furthermore, people in countries where cellular is not available yet can not buy stainless series 3's. I'm so dissapointed :-(

Yea, it sucks so much!! I was finally going to get a Stainless Steel this year, but now I suddenly can't. I just can't comprehend how it's good for business to gate SS versions to cellular when it's only available in like 5 countries at launch??

I'll have to buy a refurb or used SS S2 it seems, cellular capability wont work for me at home, even if I picked up a SS in the UK or the US.

A tiny little red dot is just not going to be an issue to most including me.

Get you a black magic marker.

The biggest problem is that no Stainless Steel models is available any time in the forseeable future in my country though.

This seems a very stupid decision on Apple's part, especially in countries without the cellular model being available.

However I'm in the UK (which does have the cellular option) and this decision has still probably caused me to not buy a new watch. I am an Apple Watch app developer and was pretty certain that I would buy the new model, but this has put me off. I wanted SS because of the durability of the metal and the sapphire screen. However I don't want cellular as I always have my phone with me. The thought of paying an extra £70 for something that I won't use was enough to put me off. Especially when it comes with an ugly red dot!

I guess I’ll just buy the series 3 aluminum and wear my series 0 SS on nice occasions. Cellular on a watch is pointless for my needs.

LTE has no advantage for me. Although I do see it being useful for some. I do really like the fact that you can use your AirPods and your Apple Watch while not being tethered to your iPhone. That much I do envy, but I can't justify purchasing it just for that.

Isn’t the price of the SS Series 3 with LTE the same as Series 2 SS was?

Wait, couldn’t you just buy a stainless steel version and not even use the cellular service? Just like you can use an iPhone like an iPod Touch without activating it? I really want SS lol

it's $50 more.

This.

you just have to pay an extra $50 over the old series 2 pricing and put up with the red dot/ led light or whatever.

Yeah... I was bummed about that, was hoping they'd keep Series 2 SS and maybe a price drop but they got rid of Series 2 as well so I just went with a Nike + space grey version... It's a Series 2 sport finish but it was on a heavy discount so I'm happy. If anyone else is interested, check your country's Nike website.

Probably the same people who thought it would be ok to have a notch cut out a piece of your video or picture when viewing on a phone

Haha, I see you took some iPhone forum rage to the Watch forum! Let it all out ;-) Apple sure made some questionable decisions this time around

You can't buy the cellular Apple Watch in countries outside the five in which cellular will be actually available. So you can't just buy it and not use LTE, it doesn't even appear in the store.

And with the Series 2 discontinued that means and Series 1 only available in aluminum that means that in most countries you can't buy a SS watch, period.

good way for Apple to force the telcos' hands, if you ask me. get their customers clamoring for it so they have to support esims. iphone will be next in a year or two.

Fellow Dane here - I was ready with my creditcard, but as soon as I found out that Apple doesn't care for the markets where cellular eSim isn't available I was soooo disappointed. I really hope that they realize what huge mistake it is ignore the countries where eSim isn't an option.

Now my eyes are more set to an upgrade of the Fenix 5 watch next year

First I thought it was a mistake the danish Apple site didn’t have anything but the Sport and Nike+ versions but my god they really limit the countries without cellular deal to aluminium ? How could that ever be a good idea? A lot of countries might take forever to make deals and then never get the steel version?

Well that made it a bit easier for me then. Never gonna get an alu version so gonna keep rocking my S2

Do you think any good deals on the SS2 will pop up in Denmark soon? If I know the usual market players I am not optimistic about any upcoming discounts...
[doublepost=1505295461][/doublepost]Anybody knows If it's possible to buy an Apple Watch Cellular in another country and just use it without activating the cellular at home? And will the chipset/cellular in the watch eventually work when cellular becomes available in my country when the watch is bought overseas?

Same here! I was ready in Norway but nope not possible. I wouldn't mind either so much but the lack of Stainless steel and band options for us Nordics is disgraceful
