Same issue

I have time Warner with the new modem you are talking about here. Directly connected to the GIGABIt Airport extreme, latest model I am getting 100/20 while directly connected to the modem I am getting 280/20

I called Time Warner and they reset the modem but no difference. I have the modem in pure bridge mode (no wifi, no routing, etc) This blows as I don't want to forgo using my AE

Do you by chance live in an area that is now supporting IPv6?

I don't know How can I find out? If they are what do I need to change? Ipv6 in AE defaults to local only

You can check with Time Warner.

So I called and they do in fact use IPv6 but they claim it does not impact speed and that you would only get a v6 assigned if a v4 were not available...
Either case they don't see it being relevant to getting 280 on the Arris and 99 on the AE

Occasionally, I have seen a speed degradation when not configured for 6to4 relays. That being said, I have only seen this issue on Comcast but wanted to pose it as a possibility. Does your modem have a light for the LAN port status? If so does it show gigabit or 10/100? If it is using a Cat 5 cable (capable of 100 Mbps) then that 99 Mbps you see isn't far off.

I figured it out! It's not the router but the I Mac (2013).
I switched the Mac to WiFi and I got 300!
When I check the Ethernet settings under hardware it is set to automatic and at tbase 100 I tried to change it to 1000 but then the Ethernet won't connect. So it appears that while the Mac is supposed to be Gigabit it does not work... I left it on WiFi for now

It is possible that you are using a Cat 5 cable between the AirPort and iMac. Only Cat5e and Cat6 support gigabit Ethernet speeds.

Same problem with Airport Express and new Time Warner modem

I have exactly the same issue as urbanwoodsman and bigjnyc.

Any update on a solution?

Trying connecting the iMac to a different port on the AE and see if it can negotiate a gigabit connection. I've had some ports on my time capsule stop negotiating gigabit connections while others will still work.

if I connect to Airport Extreme with ethernet, but wireless I keep getting around 60mb only. That's only 20%. There can't be that much interference can there?

Can I ask how did you establish the 60mb i.e. 20% from wireless

I'm currently doing latest Time Machine via wifi-Airport Extreme external hdd

Just wondered cause i'm 66mb from 298 mb 15 hours remaining -since this morning

(not sure how to calculate what wifi speed i'm getting)

I know i'm getting 30mb internet from speedtest.net

Having the same problem? Except I get 10% of a 100Mbs connection. 5Ghz n too.

Is your AirPort acting as the router? Over Ethernet, you are getting a full 100 Mbps from a port on the AirPort? Then, over wireless, you get 10 Mbps? Ensure you are not on the guest network and that you separate the network names for testing.

AirPort is acting as the router using the modem (CG3100D-28PAus) as a bridge. I get the full 113Mbps off a port on the AP, any wireless devices (iOS, laptops, the iMac 5K if I disconnect the ethernet) only get 10Mbs.

The iMac connects to the AirPort with the following results:
Channel 48 (5Ghz, 40 Mhz)
RSSI: -40dBm
Noise: -90dBm
Tx Rate: 365Mbs
PHY Mode: 802.11n
MCS Index: 22

When I use the CG3100D-28PAus built in WiFi instead of bridging the results are the same.

The transmit rate looks good so I am coming to two conclusions. The first is that there maybe a corrupted setting profile on there that you can wipe out by doing a full factory reset and the second is that one or more antennas maybe failing. Try doing the full reset and if that fails then try getting a replacement through your local Genius Bar! The nice part of AirPorts is that they are carried under a computer or iOS device's AppleCare agreement as well.
