as the title says, does the AW only store iMessage texts? I don’t see some texts when it’s from a device that isn’t Apple.

You should get a notification regardless of whether it's an iMessage or text message.

To receive SMS, MMS, or push notifications from third-party apps on your Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular), your paired iPhone must be powered on and connected to Wi-Fi or cellular, but it doesn't need to be nearby.

Are they showing up on your phone? If so, you should see them on the watch at roughly the same time.

If someone texts me where the text is green and not blue, it shows up on my phone n I get a notification on my watch as well but if I go in the message app on my watch it isn’t there.

Have you checked you settings on your iPhone?

On your iPhone, go to Settings > Messages > Text Message Forwarding, then choose which devices to allow to send and receive text messages from this iPhone.

what provider are you using?

also "Settings > Messages > Text Message Forwarding" is in the main settings app, not the watch settings app

it might be time for a un-pair and restore,
that seems to clear up a lot of problems.

I’m having an oddball issue with my watch. Sometimes I power it on and all messages come in via text (even iMessages). The only way to correct the issue is to restart my watch. I’ve tried reinstalling the watch OS and that hasn’t seemed to do anything.

I’m having an issue where if I send an sms through my Watcht it says failure to send but the person actually is getting them. I have my iPhone on in my apartment when I’m away from it. I don’t see the Apple Watch under forwarding though.

Text message forwarding is not how the watch gets passed texts. In fact, my watch is working properly and I’m receiving both kinds of texts, and it's not even an option in that settings page.
