I suspect this is something the iPad 2 will address. This has been one of the many complaints, and Apple doesn't live under a rock. Some of the problem is related to, as I understand it, applications that are not properly optimized for the iPad.
The iPad does not have a higher ppi than your 3GS. In fact your iPad's ppi is much lower, hence the horribly jagged lines.
The reason question should be, why did you torture yourself?!
Haha, j/k.![]()
The 3GS is still a good phone for getting the job done, it's quite fast under 4.2.1. But, like the OP, I'm spoiled by the 4's display. No high-res iPad display = no buy for me either. I need to see things in high detail since my eyes aren't the best....
The major fear I have of increase resolution is this shall eat into battery time. Peopel ask for all these extra features but in my opinion these have to be balance against the practicality of battery life and so forth. Is there any tech specs on how resolutin can harm battery life?

Personally I'm not interested in iPad Camera's, and a processor and GNU update are not enough on their own to justify another 800 on a 64Gb iPad 2.
But only time will tell what Apple have in store. I'm just not getting my hopes up.
Wow there's gonna be a Gnu? I would have been happy with a Pony.
Still all you gotta do is sell your iPad now before the masses wake up and get the new one with the neat stuff for a modest upgrade fee. I'm no fan of a back side camera but if it has a new A5 processor and 500Mb or more ram with a thinner profile and a better (less glare?) screen then I'm in. A GNU would be just gravy on top of that.![]()
What type of Gravy to do you have with a Gnu ?
Pushing 2048x1536 is hard enough for a laptop like the MacBook Air. I just can't see mobile CPU/GPU combos pushing this many pixels yet. Not with acceptable performance.
