As part of a slew of ChatGPT Work-related announcements on Thursday, OpenAI confirmed plans to "sunset" Atlas, with deprecation scheduled for August 9.

The first domino was Altman's idea to make a pornographic agent possible.Hopefully the first domino that falls for the ai collapse 🙂
You can basically use the new ChatGPT app (which was merged with Codex), which has a built in browser and can probably do most what Atlas could. Codex and now ChatGPT can also work with Chrome. This is bad news, I use it all the time in conjunction with ChatGPT.
Can anyone suggest any alternatives ?
Sure, anytime now 😂Hopefully the first domino that falls for the ai collapse 🙂
"What if you could chat with your web browser?" My answer to this question would be, even if I could, I wouldn't.
Hopefully the first domino that falls for the ai collapse 🙂
ai collapse? what does that even look like to you? startups without gpus die, and then suddenly the industry collectively agrees to shut down gpu data centers for llm services, and we all go back to humans typing and clicking to generate computer-actionable symbols and actions?
this has barely even started. 2027 is gonna be smartphone year all over again. a spacex ai slab. an openai android slab. one thing is wishing for ram prices to come down, but ai collapse? not gonna happen.
at least we'll probably see fewer ****** gadgets getting released. or maybe not even that, the nothing phone is actually pretty cool. and sure, tesla software on a phone? good luck with that. but sadly that's where the flow is going. sora got shut down because those gpus were better spent elsewhere. atlas was a fair try, but browsing isn't it.
i'm more concerned about when full duplex gets solved. that's when the real revolution starts. not gpt-live-1. maybe by the third iteration. that's the one. the one that actually gets us all.
The thing is, OpenAI and the others have been writing checks they really don't want to cash, on money they don't really have, to pay nvidia, who is also borrowing money, and all of this is riding on incredibly high valuations nobody can really explain except to say "trust me bro."
It's a race against time before all these loans come due. The collapse will be economic, not literally the AI itself. Well, some of them will.
AI has it's place. And in this early stage, new tech is supposed to be tested across the various applicable modals. They tested the idea, it wasnt well received, moving on.Hopefully the first domino that falls for the ai collapse 🙂
I think AI is in the Wild West phase. All sorts of things are being thrown at AI but there is not one main thing that everyone is going to adopt and start using.... yet. Think of the variety of "smart" phones there were before Apple came in with the iPhone and created what we have today that spans across all smart phones, be it iOS or Android or anything else. They virtually work the same, pinch and zoom, etc. Everyone has a phone now, it is pretty much universal. I think there is going to be that moment with AI where something will come out that changes everything.AI has it's place. And in this early stage, new tech is supposed to be tested across the various applicable modals. They tested the idea, it wasnt well received, moving on.
AI is fantastic for so many things and we are drilling down into what those things are as companies pioneer them.
AI generated videos, music, pictures doesnt appear to be wanted. But asking it to proofread, edit, assist in coding, agentic work... ALL are revolutionary and totally worth it.
Just because you think it's stupid doesnt mean the technology doesnt have a place.
