I doubt I'll buy anything from OpenAI, or allow any company to be context-aware enough to get into my private sphere (physical and digital). At the same time, I am really hopeful this will come out more or less as explained. Apps are dumb. The sooner they are gone the better. It is so clunky to still have to go into photos, find something I want to send, then get Messages on the screen so it isn't blocking Photos app, type in a recipient, go back to photos, click on it, drag it over to Messages, drop it, click send. Yes, there are a few easier ways to do this (using control menu and share), but still app dependent. Dumb. I should just be able to say. "Hey Siri, show me the photos I took in the past week of my new office" (it does this), "Select the second to last one and last one and text those to Bill Doherty." It does this, and then waits for me to review it. "Send the text." This is easy-peasy stuff. OpenAI is at least saying they will be opening the door to an app-less OS. Apple's 2027 OS's seem to be heading there, but are still a long way off. Anything OpenAI and others can do to make this transition away from App-dependent actions will be welcomed.
BTW, I am a medical professional. This is one of my instructions to Claude: "As a healthcare provider, HIPAA and other privacy and confidentiality considerations are very important including information about my client contacts and other documents that might be related to client information. Do not ever open, use, share, move, alter, or in any way interact with any documents, data, or contact information on my computer or any of my devices without explicit approval for me after you have affirmatively asked my permission and I have explicitly given you permission."
