Hello everyone :)
I’m about to purchase a used MBA 13 2014 with i7, 8gb ram and a newly upgraded 500gb ssd.
I want to use this machine for writing my yearly research work for the upcoming year.
How good will it run with the latest Mac OS?
Will it be able to handle Windows Office apps smoothly?
Would love to hear your opinions about it.

Will the machine come with an OEM Apple SSD or nvme drive with a pci-e adapter?
I’ve been told that it’s a new one (don’t know the type) and it was just updated recently.

Confirm that it is an OEM Apple SSD. Using a third party drive prevents deep sleep from working properly.

I'm using a 512GB Samsung 970EVO NVMe M.2 drive with Sintech adapter in my 2015 MacBook AIR and have not experienced any deep sleep issues. My laptop has all the current firmware updates and when I open the laptop it wakes up from sleep every single time.

I'm only posting this because I have not experienced any issues with my AIR using a third party drive.

The 2015 and 2017 air and 2015 Pro do not have hibernation problems. Hibernate mode 25 in the 2013 and 2014 Pro and Air will cause kernel panics when waking from sleep.

The panics have been discussed here:

The only way to have hibernate mode 25 working in the 2013 and 2014 model is to flash a modded bootrom.

That's good to know! Thanks for the clarification :apple:
