Hi!
For the past few months I've had a weird bug with my Apple Watch Ultra. The nights where it says it's gonna use optimised charging and charge only to 80%, when I wake up in the morning it's sitting at a full 100%.

The features was working correctly before, I tried restarting it, but I didn't reset it, I was scared to lose all my settings.

Was wondering if I'm the only one?

thanks!

This feature has been BROKEN since right after 10.0, whichever dot dot release that was. I'm on 10.2 and my watch STILL GOES TO 100, despite me wishing it would stop at 80 to help the battery. It worked precisely once and never again after that one glorious night. And yes, I keep the same bed/house routine every. single. day. I don't see why Apple hasn't noticed this. I've reported it multiple times but they probably get tons of feedback submitted...

Unless I'm mistaken (please correct me), and according to the manual:

To reduce battery aging, Apple Watch uses on-device machine learning to learn your daily charging routines so it can wait to finish charging past 80 percent until you need to use it.

And in the iPhone manual:

iPhone has a setting that helps slow the rate of your battery’s aging by reducing the time it spends fully charged. This setting uses machine learning to understand your daily charging routine, then waits to finish charging past 80% until you need it. About Optimized Battery Charging on your iPhone

So I believe it's working as intended.

No. This changed as of 10.0. Read this from Apple and scroll DOWN to optimized charge limit (NOT the top part about optimized charging). https://support.apple.com/en-us/105...s dynamically, battery and reduce its lifespan.

has been discussed:
Optimized Charge Limit for Apple Watch Ultra 2
and here
Optimized Charge Limit STILL not working!

so the optimized charge limit appears to be buggy.

My Ultra 2 did it once and with my usage pattern it dropped down to ~10% before my regular charging time, so I turned it off. it continues to charge to 80% and hold til it goes to 100%.

For Ultra (1 and 2) this feature imho offers little, posts here suggest that battery health was ~ 97-100% after 1 year, my Ultra was at 99% after 1 year when I traded it in for the U2. That suggests that you should see battery life well beyond the 4 year mark which seems to be what a lot of people get out of their regular AWs. In addition, for as long as I keep (use) my AWs, I have AC+ so I don't really care about battery health, but YMMV
