Bummer, I totally would have upgraded to the 2.6 processor. Can anyone confirm when the 14 day return begins with online purchases, the date the comp ships, or the date I receive it?

I'm able to see it. Try clearing the cache in your browser.

I'm wondering the same thing...it's worth a phone call! If they refuse, and you're talking to sales, you can always resort to threatening a return and repurchase (if you're still in your 14 days)

I'll ask my represenative person. Do you think emailing would be as effective as calling? My RMBP is actually still on the way and won't get here until Friday. Had I known that Apple would let the 2.3ghz model be upgraded to the same specs as the 2.6ghz while being cheaper, I would have gone with that option.

They've also added a "software" section too.

I'm pretty sure this wasn't there before.

I was thinking the same thing if Apple would be willing to refund the $61 or whatever total amount depending on your state's sales tax before this option existed. I would love to replace my current model for a 2.6/256/16 CTO, best choice for value for the buck in my opinion, although I am sort of wary of receiving an imperfect or defective machine and going through the exchange process again. Is the $60+ worth the time and effort to replace for the desired machine? Even after receiving the most perfect machine I currently have?

I concur; I don't see these new options in US store. Actually, for the last few days, I haven't been able to change the radio box values from the East coast. Meaning, I couldn't check an upgraded processor or ram configuration.

i had a 2.7/16/512 machine in my cart from previous playing around so I just ordered that. If I could go to 2.7/16/256, I would.

i would have gone for a 2.6/16/256 had this been available earlier. way out of my return window so no chance.

I've made a screen recording so I can later prove my "innocence" (if necessary). :D

Edit: meaning that I see the options and am not just "making all this up".

Just got off the phone with Apple, they credited $60 back to my card with no pushback whatsoever. He just had to build the computers for himself and verify...

I'd jump on this today if you want to take advantage.

I tried it but they said they dont refund like this and I will have to return my MBP and order again

Screen recording/shot of what? The previous prices? If you did could you post them so I can also email them to my represenative if she asks for them?

Not all people in this thread see the same options when they surf to the apple.com website. Some see the old options (2.3Ghz + 256GB SSD) whereas others like me see additional features (more processor and SSD options). I've shown absolutely everything which I can see in the original post.

I think some people in this thread have noted discrepencies (when using edu rebates) for certain configurations of the 2.6Ghz model. However, I don't have access to the educational section of apple.com (because I'm not a student). Check the comments from Icaras, uhslax24, and others in this thread for more info.

Is anyone else concerned that there are 2 different prices for the same computer? In the Australian store, if you BTO the base model to the 2.6/8gb/512gb it costs $20 more.

Am I missing something? Why are there still 2 options if you can simply build to order. And why are the prices different?

Kick in the teeth for people who've just ordered there models and wanted different configurations.

I'd of definitely upgraded my base 2.3Ghz to 512GB.

Is it me or is Apple's PR worse than ever? Between this, the long wait times for the rMBPs and the blunder with the Thunderbolt/firewire adapter, I fear that long-time apple users like myself are starting to get frustrated...

The US store didn't have the options I wanted, so I just called them and did the order over the phone. I cancelled my previous order. My 2.7/16/256 arrives Aug 17-21 it says....

The benchmarks are:

2.3Ghz: 10,810
2.6Ghz: 12,303

The thing is however, that the 2.6Ghz has a larger HD, if that makes any difference to the benchmark.

Just curious, where did you get those benchmarks?

The ones here are:

2.3GHz: 10,743 (32-bit)
11,642 (64-bit)
2.6GHz: 11,621 (32-bit)
12,830 (64-bit)

edit: I noticed the BTO options are gone. I would have tried to get a 2.6/16/256 if I could have.

I was able to call Apple and change my order that is still in the works from 2.3 to 2.6, it did push my date back a week though to do so.

I rung Apple to do this but they told me I need to cancel then re-order. Only problem now is that due to the pending hold on my debit card, I can't reorder for a few days :(

I wonder how the 2.7 compares to the 2.6. Seems like such a pointless and expensive small upgrade, could they not have offered like a 2.9?

I know right! The 2.7 is £340 on the base model! That's insane
