I picked up the Starlight Alpine Loop on last Saturday and wore it for a few days on my Series 7 watch. It is quite a pain to remove it from the wrist. After a day or two, I wonder how durable it will be.

To be honest, this is why I stay away from bands made with any type of fabric for the simple reason that they're a pain to keep clean in the long run, especially if you want to clean up from sweaty workouts each time! With that said, I'm enjoying my Ocean Band in white, which has held up exceptionally well from my daily walks and swims from the sweat and salt water of my pool!

Apparently a lot of people are chipping/scratching their watch with the clasp. That’s something to watch out for.
I have a 190mm wrist and use the Medium,

Trying to take the loop off needs to be completely open, which results in the hook clanking off the watch

So I have to be very careful taking it off, becaue no doubt it's going to mark the case.

Which is why I though of trying a large instead, but would that not be too big.

Sources? I can see this happening but I’d like to see evidence of it please. So far I’ve only read about people acknowledging it could happen, rather than it has.

Out of curiosity how did you get the outer part of the watch face to be white.

These will be interesting if they start to have titanium lug/clasp color options.

That white band looks sharp

The Alpine bands have stretch. There is no need to open it all the way unless you don’t have the right size, but yes you need to be a little careful not to clank it off the case.

I still have yet to see a chip. I’ve seen finish blemishes, and I think clanking clasps off the case off any of the Apple Watch will cause very small finish issues over time. If you are particularly worried about any possible wear, then you’ll have to be careful.

As the subject line says, I got the orange alpine loop on Friday and it kinda looks like like it's already getting grubby.

Don't get me wrong - it's not bad, but it just seems like the material is prone to discolouring on the underside from sweat, and from resting on a desk as you type. Anyone else notice this?

I haven't tried washing it or anything - it might be nothing major - but for an expensive strap that seems off to me. Granted most of the cost in making these for Apple comes from the titanium bits and bobs on there, but the actual fabric seems surprisingly 'off' to me.

Thanks OP. I'm in the same boat. As some have mentioned the band alone is over $100 when you factor in taxes. Yours does not look as "dirty" as mine at least to my eyes and I do not have Astigmatism. Depending on the angle I point mine to the light it looks dirty to somewhat clean.

For $800 pretty disappointing, but I guess I'll be purchasing a replacement through Amazon and won't be disappointed once it starts turning dark after less than the Best Buy 14 day return period.

Orange alpine loop showed up grime very quickly, material unlikely to fade due to washing as synthetic, used dish soap and scrubbed with hands under warm water and band looked good as new in under 30 seconds

I might have to give the alpine loop a try. I saw people speaking about the fade of the green and stayed away. The orange might be the way to go.

Even the orange pull strap thing on the trail loop gets grimy.,...occasional wash works wonders

Fabric bands do not look like new forever. They will continue to do what they are intended to do for a very long time.

I'm still shocked every time I see the costs, £99 for a fabric strap... and we pay it! Its insane when you think about it. The margin on these bands must be incredible.

Am I reading some of these posts correctly? $100 for an Apple Alpine band?
You can get a set of 6 different colors on Amazon for $35 USD.
Don’t really notice a quality difference.

YMMV
My daughter wanted to get me a band for Christmas, so I found a (highly rated) band on Amazon, a forest green alpine band. It is ok, but definitely not the same feel of the Apple band. The lugs are lower weight and the band feels more like a wristband you would get at a county fair.

It has turned into my yard work band.

The weight of the material is only a little lighter on the set I bought.
6/$35 vs. 1 for $100.

it makes me feel like I got a great deal for my Apple leather link at the same price of $99.
