Hey, I'm not going to name the major retailer because they might be reading and investigate their inventory but I ordered 1 macbook air and received 2 in the mail. I checked my online order, and verified I was just charged once. Also, the two boxes had the same USP tracking number, and UPS just taped them both together as one.

It's the 11 inch 128gb model. Anyhow, I googled this phenomenon and found this site. Apparently, I can keep unrequested merchandise. But, I am under moral obligation to return it. I'm so excited to now have a Mac. I was playing with my brother's Macbook Air and it was so awesome booting in to both MacOS and Windows 7 (which was super fast). :apple:

Haha, that's nice! I wish I got two MacBook Airs. But all kidding aside, if it was me, I'd tell the retailer that I got two and let them deal with it. The only time I would keep both is if they explicitly told me to keep them and they wouldn't do anything to take the second one back.

Anyway, hope you enjoy the MacBook Air!

So you want said retailer to remain anonymous and you post a link to a blog discussing duplicate amazon orders...LOL

Discreet FAIL!

If you don't report back to the company, you will have bad karma which will cause the device to explode in you lap while you are well into a porn site.

If you do the right think you might get a reward in addition to virtue being its own reward anyway.

Just FYI - most shipping companies are very good at keeping track of the weight of what they are delivering. That said, it would not be very difficult for someone to determine that your box was twice as heavy as normal.

I realize these type of topics will generate conflicting views every time but, ask yourself, would the retailer proactively refund you on a double-charge without you having to call and ask for it? Have you had positive or negative experiences with them?

This is just some food for thought. What you do with it is entirely up to you.

Situational ethics BS. Calling you out on this nonsense thinking.

The truth is, Amazon is pretty damn good at this stuff. I'd be amazed if they didn't catch it shortly and charge you for the second unit.

Another way to look at it would be BECAUSE of his good karma, he got lucky and got an extra MBA :D Finders keepers man, I would never advocate stealing, but when opportunity knocks on your door, thinking its someone else's house, what you gonna do? keep the door shut???!!! Enjoy both the machines :)

Let me see...yup...do whatever you want...

False, you have received this second MBA due to good karma in a past life. Keep it.

Careful! Your ethics and character are showing!

Call me old fashioned. In fact call me what you want, but over the years, errors have occurred, merchandise has been delivered that I didn't order or pay for etc.

I have always returned it, and in most cases I've come out on top....Particularly when dealing with Apple, who now give me a generous discount thanks in part to my honesty over an ATV unit some time ago.

As posted, different views exist, but I'd tell them, it's just the right thing to do.

I would return it. I think it is wrong to keep it and whether or not the retailer will ever realize their mistake is irrelevant to me.

I have returned payments to me that were accidentally made in the past by others far in excess of the cost of a computer. It was and is the right action for my set of morals.

Inventory systems are so good now they will track it down and send you a bill for the 2nd one. Happened to me once when I got an extra keyboard, which I kept because it was a $30 item, not thinking they would care about it. Received a bill couple months later.

Keep the extra boxed sealed and wait a few weeks. If you don't hear anything then sell.

If you feel guilty then donate a percentage to charity... Its more than the company would give!

honesty is the only policy ;)

They will find out. It might not be this week, or even this month. But at some point in time, they will find out. They'll check the shipping documentation etc and there's a good chance you'll have to return it or pay for it.

I completely agree! And I AM old-fashioned.... and damn proud of it! (I'm also just plain old, but that's another story!) :D
