Still waiting on ours. i7/512/580 ordered 7/28. Shipped to store status last Friday 8/4 and was to be available yesterday 8/10. Still no word from the store to come pick it up. Status still says shipping to store. No email yet.

Customer support and local Apple Stores must get flooded with calls asking about ship to store orders, hence the "wait for the email" instructions. Because neither can tell me anything about the status of the order. Customer Service just reads off the same Order Status page I have access to. The local store says they don't know anything about it and to call Customer Service.

*Edit* Apple Store just called the wife and said the computer was lost in transit. (i.e. stolen in transit) Offered to replace or refund. Think we will be going with the refund for now.

I ordered my imac on July 26 and it finally arrived today, August 11. My model is the 3.8 ghz, 512 ssd, Radeon 580 model. I also got the larger keyboard because it's what I am used to and the arrows keys are helpful with Illustrator.

Yeah, really, and it's especially remarkable since on this very page there is someone who ordered in early July with expected delivery of late August.

The Apple Gods smile on czacha. :)
Well I guess it's all because I live in Poland / Europe so perhaps not so many iMac are sold like in US? Second thing is that they manufacture Apple products in Ireland so it takes less than 24h to delivery in EU.

Oh and I choose 1TB SSD .. for 512SSD I'd have to waaaaaait..

Ordered 27" i5 570 with 512SSD on 8th August with estimated shipping on Aug 21st-23rd (Germany). I received an shipping notification incl. tracking no. quite quickly two days later (Aug 10th) so i thought it would arrive ealry. Anyways there is no update on the tracking no, yet. So I think I have to wait some more days...

Just a heads-up for those having their iMacs shipped to an Apple Store.

I took delivery of mine at the Boulder, CO Apple Store two weeks ago. All went smoothly. The iMac was delivered to me in the nice white Apple box.

A couple days later I realized that I did not get the brown shipping box that would be useful if I ever needed to ship the iMac for repair or when I eventually sell it. I figured no big deal - I'll just pick one up at the Apple Store. I happened to be near the store on Saturday and went in with my sales receipt and asked if I could have one of the shipping boxes. The Apple rep said that their policy is to not store empty boxes there due to very limited space. They apparently get disposed of on a daily basis. But he did go to check in the back just in case there might be one there. No dice. I then asked if he could save one for me next time they had a shipment and notify me when to pick it up. He said that they could not do that since they had very limited space.

So I left somewhat disappointed. Not a major issue in the large scheme of things, and mostly my fault for not thinking of it when I took delivery. But I thought I'd post this reminder for those people who will be taking delivery at the Apple Store. Your best chance for getting a shipping box will be to remember to ask for it when you take delivery. The policy might also vary between different Apple Stores.

Hi Guys!
I just placed an order on iMac i7/580/1TB with numeric keyboard and trackpad (instead of MM2 - I'm going to buy Logitech MX anyway). I also took silver Beats.
I can't wait for the delivery! They say that it will be dispatched in 2-4 business days.
Estimated Time of Delivery is 21-23 August. One week for a computer. I thought it will be worse but still it's ridiculus.

Ordered an i5 3.8, 1tb SSD, 8gb RAM on August 8th. Originally told it would be 8/16-8/18. It's been sitting at "preparing for shipment" for three days now. Finally got a shipping notice but it says it won't arrive until 8/21. I'm annoyed, but mostly because I have to use my 2009 iMac, which works fine except for 1x or 2x a day it freezes and I have to reboot, sometimes losing work.

Why is shipping taking so long? Before it went to "preparing to ship" I tried to upgrade the shipping, but they wouldn't let me for some reason.

Mine is now 'Preparing handover to final carrier'. Edu offer so computer and Solo3 headphones are meeting up somewhere before making their way to me, still on August 23rd according to the current info.

Please Note: Your items dispatched from different locations and will be merged together before delivery. Once merged, your Order Status will be updated with carrier and tracking information (at least 48 business hours before your estimated delivery date).

Still hoping it will arrive sooner.

Ordered 10am central time on 8-10, i7/580/512gb ssd and it is showing 8/19-8/23 delivery window. CC charge for $1 yesterday and full price today pending. (I'm Midwest USA)

Shipped 8-14 so pretty quick from order date, but showing delivery next Monday, 8-21. I hope that's a conservative estimate by UPS.

Yesterday I got my 570/512 from the Apple Store in Sindelfingen, I also ordered on August 8th in the morning :)

I'm so frustrated! My TSB card doesn't work with Apple Store. I tried this stupid card with eBay and it doesn't work either! I called TSB, they said that it should work but guess what, it doesn't! They said that it's Apples fault but if it was, why eBay doesn't work too?
I went to different bank to create new account, I have an appointment on Thursday and then I have to wait another 5-7 business days for a new card from different bank. I hope it will work.

Thanks for update.

They should just leave customer pick up orders in the original packaging and just hand over. Would take up basically no more space.

I bet retail policy is too only have their regular packaging leaving the store for appearance and everyone sees all the way back to your vehicle.

I never thought about that, but you could be right. I did do a bit of advertising for Apple on the 4 block walk back to my car ;>)

Another possible reason is that they did need to scan the label on the white box to verify that it matched the barcode on my sales receipt. Don't know if there is a similar label on the brown box or not.

Not sure about customer orders that are meant for pick up at the retail store but when your order is directly sent to you the box has several barcodes for like machine serial number & etc. Would never need to open shipping box.

Mine arrived yesterday, about 1 week earlier than originally scheduled.

Initially I picked one up at the store. It had the 1 TB Fusion drive. After a few days use I decided to up a couple of specs and ordered a 27" 3.8GHz i5/ Radeon 580/ 512 GB SSD drive. I also picked up a 4TB G Drive with USB C for external Storage and a 4TB USB 3 WD My Book for a Time Machine. I am very pleased. The G Drive gives me transfer speeds around 400MB/s, the My Book around 100MB/s but that SSD drive gives me around 1800 - 2000 MB/s, I kid ye not.. The Geekbench CPU scores are around 4700 Single Core and 13900 Multicore which is about the same as the 3.5GHz I had for a few days so not much change there. The big difference is the performance of the internal SSD compared to the Fusion Drive.

I moved to the iMac from a 2006 Mac Pro running El Capitan and for the first iMac I tried I used Migration Assistant to transfer everything. It seemed to go well except for Keychain and iCloud both of which kept asking me for my password. So for the new one I decided to not use Migration Assistant and set it up from scratch. Fortunately all my Safari Bookmarks were in iCloud and my 1 password file was in Dropbox. I am glad I went this route and would recommend it even though it is very time consuming for things like Capture One. I am not having the issues with Keychain and iCloud Drive.

My 2011 Macbook pro finally died on me after many years heavy use .

Decided to go for the mid tier 27" with 512SSD, I'll add my own RAM at some point, prob another 32GB next year.

Ordered online yesterday, was estimated delivery 22nd-24th Aug, preparing for dispatch now.

That's fast! I ordered Monday (lower tier with 512SSD and Trackpad) and got an estimate of 18-22 Aug. It still hasn't moved from order processing at the moment which is a shame as I'd have liked to have had it by the weekend.

I thought that too, if it arrives next week i'll be happy, it'll prob sit at preparing to dispatch for a good few days before shipping i expect.

edit: it's actually now dispatched, no tracking info as yet.

that's nearly exactly 24 hours since ordering to shipping, quickest I've ever had from apple.
