In the video, "she kept saying that 'the best way to get in line is online,' implying that people should order them online even if they come into the store," our source says.

My interpretation is that's just a pity way to summarize how the initial lots must be bought- online not in line. I don't think it says a thing about availability. Surely Apple isn't going to be sold out of launch day stock by 10 am EST on the 10th.

All Apple Watch stock that's in the US on the 24th is assigned to retail stores. If your order online for shipping it will *SHIP* on the 24th, not deliver on the 24th.

Tightest. Launch stock. Ever.

Wrong.... All Apple products has always been delivered on launch days if you order early on preorder

Another possible interpretation is that people should either order online or reserve an appointment online.

I understand that when you make a try-on appointment, you reserve a particular watch to try on. I wouldn't be surprised if a "ghost" pre-order was created at the same time to hold a place in the queue for if you do decide to order the watch that you try on. That way, people who get in early to reserve appointments won't end up behind everyone who pre-orders online directly.

It would be fair, because orders would be delivered in the order that people first took action towards getting a watch (whether by reserving an appointment or preorering directly) and it would result in a greater percentage of positive word-of-mouth, because more of those receiving their watches early would have seen and touched them before committing.

Not true - 4S pre-order shipped on launch day for a later delivery, or at least in Aus (not the norm)

Yes - I remember being rather annoyed by this. I could have walked into a shop and bought a 4S on launch day, but because I had pre-ordered, I had to wait until after the weekend to receive my new phone.

"Apple retail chief Angela Ahrendts has delivered a "confidential" video briefing to all Apple Store employees telling them how to handle the pre-order day for Apple Watch on April 10, a source tells Business Insider. The source did not want to be named because Apple frowns upon internal leaks.
The key fact for Apple Watch buyers is that online booking and sales for Apple Watch will begin at precisely 12:01 a.m. PT / 3:01 a.m. ET. If you want an Apple Watch, that will probably be the best, quickest way to get one. The online Apple Store has now been updated with that time.

The video was called "Keep it confidential - a message from Angela," the source said. In the video, "she kept saying that 'the best way to get in line is online,' implying that people should order them online even if they come into the store," our source says.

By implication, walking into an Apple Store on April 10 will probably NOT be a good way to get a watch — you will only be able to book to make an appointment, and you'll have to come back. April 10 is the day you will be able to book an appointment to try a watch; the actual product only becomes available on April 24.

It is an open secret among Apple Store employees that for all new Apple launches — especially new iPhones — the best way to get one is to avoid the store on the day of launch and simply buy one online. The stores tend to be a zoo on product launch days and Apple has trouble supplying enough products to meet demand.

The latest message from Ahrendts suggests that Apple will again attempt to persuade customers to stay online to get the product they want. Whether Apple's famously enthusiastic customers will actually listen to Ahrendts' advice is a whole other issue."

Enough said (for me) I'm sticking with online ordering this Friday!
Glad I don't have to go to work (retired).

Your info is all wrong... the email I received was quite different... appears you got info on the decoy email!! LoL at you!!!!

Theres gonna be a lot of disappointed people if thats true.

Spreading FUD are we?

The Apple website says "Available April 24" - I expect that to mean that I can have a Watch in my possession ON the 24th.

It does.... don't listen to false profits.

I would hope that it wouldn't ship on the 24th. I want it to arrive on the 24th!

I guess it isn't that big of a deal though, if I make an in-store pickup reservation I just get to make a trip to the Apple Store! :D

In the past, when I have pre-ordered iPads and iPhones, I would get them on the day of release. They would begin "Preparing for Shipment" 2-3 days before the actual release date.

It is "available for SALE" on the 10th via preorder; what are you saying: that the 24th is just more preorders?

No it's not available for sale on the 10th it's available for preorder. You can't actually buy the watch on that day or before the 24th. Preorder and available for sale are two different things. My point is that they will in all likely hood ship initial preorders for delivery on the 24th.

Ordering online vs going to Apple store this Friday

Going to Apple Store onvFriday is for people to try on the watches to see what they want. If you find something you want they will help you place an order for that watch. For me I need to go in because I am undecided on what to get. I have never bought a watch unseen. I need to know what band I really want and how the watch will work on my right wrist. I have Carpal Tunnel in my left wrist, work injury.

Its going to be interesting how long it will take before the est delivery dates start to slip into may, especially for the SS watches.

Even though I'm getting the 42mm space grey w/ black band sports watch, i'm expecting my est delivery date to be in late may or sometime in june.
