“Original” Apple leather case???

Hello all!

Decided to buy a new case after a year. Bought it in promotion at an “authorized “ apple retailer in the Netherlands (bol.com).

Year ago I ordered an original MagSafe puck in promotion, that turned out to be a fake.
And I think they got me again with a case this year 😂.

The moment that I saw the case I thought : Apple would not finish a product in this ugly manner.


I have the case on for about 12 hours, and it’s already damaged.
As you can see on the last photo.

Also inside the case the leather is not beautifully tucked away, there are creases all around the case and it just looks plain ugly at the buttons.

I will send it back and like with the MagSafe I will start a conversation with the costumer service and report it at Apple.

What do you think? It’s a faulty product or a fake one, or is this how it passed QC these days at apple (last leather case was on my iPhone SE 2016)

Doesn't look any worse than mine - and mine came from an actual Apple Store.

Unfortunately that seems about right. Apple accessories never really impress me. My 7 Plus leather case also had these slightly misaligned volume buttons.

ooh, that's disappointing to read . Trough pictures you can't feel the quality of course but it is a total letdown for me.
If this really is an original apple case, I will not go for the leather again it just feels like it wouldn't last a year.

My case is the same as the original poster's pics. I also bougth it directly from Apple.

Comparing with my Golden Brown… and I’m not sure. Almost everything about this case seems legit… except for the buttons. They look like they’re pushed in, with the creases around them and all, and it makes the case look thicker. This is really difficult to tell from the photos, though; a real-life touch would give a better idea.

It’s really hard to show this in photos. To me, the area surrounding the buttons on the original just looks more immaculate.

Probably it is legit, but I am disappointed by the quality.

The leather is not neatly tucked away inside. And the button sections are ugly. I am not that kind of ocd guy, but the fact that there is already a small ripped part on the frond edge, puts me off.

I wore it for almost 12 hours in that time it was on the MagSafe charger and on a table with the back down. Not even in my pocket or out of the house 😂.

I love the weathered leather after a time, that’s the reason I bought it, but I can’t imagine how it looks after a couple of times in and out of my pocket.

What colour is this, and for which iPhone? It looks yellow in the picture, is it California Poppy? I have the golden brown for iPhone 13 Pro and compared to yours mine looks much better.
