2 months in Nomad Horween for iPhone 12 mini..
What do you guys think about it?? I thought it would patina faster than this…

A part for the top notch leather i’m not so happy with the plastic sides and the bulky effect to the phone (compared to Apple, Andar and Bullstrap)..

I was going to buy one but when I saw the plastic sides I just went back to an apple case for now.
I am thinking of getting a case from Ryan of London, they look good.

I wonder if Apple will change their leather cases this year I spoke with an Apple employee and even he acknowledged that the leather cases aren’t what they use to be he even recommended me Nomad if I wanted a case that will patina.

Hopefully they change their process for leather this year, but I can also see apple getting rid of them all together

I’m not feeling hopeful about it personally. It was rather concerning when the Spring 2022 event came around and Apple didn’t release a single new leather accessory, including for the new iPhone SE.

I predict iPhone 14 series leather will be run either the same as iPhone 13, five (or less) colours at launch, two of these would be Midnight (Black) and Golden Brown (Brown), and then no new leather case until iPhone 15 or they’ll just bin it altogether.

Nomad isn't that bad but yeah... nothing beats always touching the leather on the sides with the Apple leather case IMO.

I'd rather risk fraying it in a fall than feeling 90% TPU and 10% leather all day.

It’s my understanding that Plant based leather does not patina. So it’s a good option for people who don’t like patina and like their case to always look brand new… which isn’t me.

Back to my usual classic Black Bullstrap case that have used for couple of months, somehow still prefer black leather cases!

Both look great to me - I prefer the very warm orange cast browns and tans - hate Nomad plain brown.

Love it. Also don’t like the Bullstrap logo. Both are pretty to me Besides logo.

I always go back to black. Love the initial look of the Baltic blues, sequoia greens but as they wear, I always return to black. Such a clean look, no matter the age of the case

The Golden Brown is ageing in an interesting manner, indeed — consistent with what others reported here, but surprisingly, the process is not as quick as I thought. Its XS/8/7 predecessors went dark in my hands much faster than this.

For comparison, I'm adding my old 5s case which was the same shape, so the patina buildup looks quite similar, as well.

I remember those original iPhone 5s cases (wasn’t the brown one similar to the current Golden Brown)- those ones aged similarly but worse to the iPhone 12/13 series leather cases.

2 month update on my forced patina iPhone 13 mini case golden brown next to my forced patina iPhone 12 Pro Max case saddle brown hopefully it ages like this

Thanks I got it a week ago and have been using a rag and some leather cleaner/ conditioner and just working the coating off bit by bit

Day 1 with an embossed Ryan London MagSafe saddle brown case on my 13 mini.

Very impressed so far, the case fits well and the buttons have a nice click to them. It feels very soft and I think it will patina beautifully.

The smell is just gorgeous as well
