It takes like 5 minutes to do…
Correct me if I'm wrong - and I hope I am - last time I unpaired and re-paired - it wiped my watch first, then on pairing had to transfer the backup onto it which was an ordeal for me...

You make it sound as simple as forgetting AirPods, and re-pairing them... I would love that lol

The series 7 and later support fast charging and I tell you its well worth it! I used to have a S4 until I upgraded and am not looking back. The fast charging is worth the price.
I can see how it might be useful but honestly, on any ordinary day I put the watch onto charge when I go to bed, and I put it back on fully charged in the morning, no problem. It was just yesterday, for some I presume OS9 related reason, it wasn’t quite done when I first got up. Fine again this morning though.

I can only assume there was some heavy post-update processing going on throughout that first day and night.

Interestingly though, I’ve just noticed my battery health has dropped back down again to a more realistic 85% (one point below the level pre update..)

I have none of these problems. Fully charged at 8am and at 5:30PM my S6 is at 57%

Well no its not as simple as forgetting and re-pairing Airpods. And I didn't mean to be dismissive of having to pair and re-pair, because it does take a few minutes. It will still wipe your watch and you'll have to reload the backup. To me it was worth trying because my battery was going to be dead by 4pm. I even tried putting it on low power and it was still draining.

I guess it comes down to how big of a problem it is for you. To me it was definitely worth trying as there was no way I was going to make it with that poor battery life. If you aren't see it as too much of a problem then maybe its not worth doing.

Mine is down too!! (S7) Love the features of 9 but so far it's a bit choppy on some moves and has locked up a couple times and needed to be restarted. The Notification pull down keeps not working and needs a restart to correct it.

Here’s mine.

Dropped to 30% over 12 hours at work. About 10% less than before I updated, but I am going to give it a week and see if it gets any better.

I had this problem since upgrading my S7 to watchOS 9. Last night I did a hard reset of my watch and my phone and so far the battery life feels steady today. I have 90% left after 4 hours of use.

I just changed the face on mine to one of no animation and a black background and so far I am at 99% after almost an hour.

I had this issues a handful of times on the watch os 9 beta. Typically shutting off and restarting it helped me then. Hope i don't run inot this on the public release. been good so far

I normally have to do an UN-paid and RE-pair to get battery life back to what was prior, but this time that trick doesn’t seem to have worked.

I have a Series 6 44m which on AW 7 (which was the last watch OS I was on) I got easily 48 hours of battery life usually including 1-2 workouts over that time frame, and including nighttime wearing for sleep tracking although I did put the watch in AP mode, DND and essentially theatre mode. Now, I‘m getting at most 36 hours of use which is a bummer.

I have the feeling, just subjective at the moment that the raise to wake (I don’t use the AOD) is a bit more sensitive or twitchy, and is lighting up the watch more. Also, some of the colors on my watch faces have moved from a slightly dark blue to FORCED to be white, that might do it.

Any other settings that have changed between OS 7 and OS 9?

On my Ti S7 battery life actually improved slightly after watchOS 9 by ~ 5% at end of day ...

Does anyone have any update or tips to why Watch OS 9 would reduce battery life by 25%? I’ve tried turning MORE things off but it doesn’t seem to help. Even turning brightness down below where it historically was.

I have made a few adjustments - which frankly were NOT on with the prior OS 7 going in which is odd. It would appear that things like Siri set to “hey Siri” and raise to activate SIRI were RE-ENABLED when the watch updated. I never had these on before. Also, the setting to auto track a workout - essentially monitoring and caching movement data that the watch THINKS is a workout were ALSO re-enabled with the OS 9 update. Not really sure why these things would be turned back on with a software update.

I’ll add them to the list of things like TURN OFF WALKIE TALKIE (which somehow always gets re-enabled) among others. AT this point batter life is closer to the 48 hours I used to experience.
