OS X 10.10.3 with the all-new Photos app will be available Wednesday as a free software update for Mac users, according to The Associated Press. The news organization mentioned the release date as part of its in-depth review about the all-new Photos for OS X app, which it praised for making basic photo editing easy.
"Procrastinate no more. Apple's new Photos app for Mac computers, available Wednesday as a free software update, makes it easy to organize and edit your pictures. The app, which replaces iPhoto, bundles professional-level tools such as granular color correction into one free consumer package."
OS X 10.10.3 will be available through Software Update in the Mac App Store.

I just hope the release will be more stable then the beta, have had so many random shutdowns and apps refusing to launch during the last beta version

Updates are (almost) always welcome.

Must really get my head around the new Photos app...

I'm a little (actually very) nervous about the iPhoto -> Photo's transition…

And I'm not even talking about the general buggyness and terrible (Finder) performance.

new photos app and emojis :D

shouldnt iOS 8.3 launch today too since it has these new emojis?

Does it support new Emojis? I've been waiting this for decades! ;-) Just kidding. Nice to get something new to play with.

So how will this update handle iPhoto? Will it delete iphoto? because current beta of Photos just copy the entire photo database without deleting iPhoto.

How is the new 'photos' app ? Are we looking at the typical 'apple replacement' for an existing app - which comes with less features and severely cripples productivity until 16 updates down the line (after an outcry from masses of consumers, complaining about lost functionality) - or is it at least as functional as iPhoto (not even going to compare it to poor old Aperture which has likewise been put out to pasture).

I dunno....i don't trust a program to manage all my childhood memories. Had so much problems with my music library and was always happy to have a backup I managed myself ( oldschool with folders and stuff )

How come? :eek::eek:

Just slightly nervous about the transition. My iPhoto's library is meticulously organised and I fear that I might have to spend a lot of time getting Photos back to that level.

On the other hand, the performance improvement would be a godsend.

Oh, and I would love a dark mode :cool:

I'm staying on iPhoto FOREVER!!! :D

Same! it's a MESS. I have tried it but I have no idea what's actually in the cloud and what's stored local then I delete sth from my Photostream but for some reason those pics stay in the all photos tab. there's no consistency at all and I feel like I have no control over what's "mine.
