The 9to5 article reads like wild speculation and has no sources for this information, but this MacRumors article quotes it as fact. Take it with a generous helping of salt.
 
I know the real reason people object to 10.10

Deep down they wish it was 10♥10. Who wouldn't prefer that?
 
10.9, for many of us, has considerable issues. The 10.9.1 release was a 'Mem' moment for those of us in this camp. So, come on Apple, fix 10.9!

they don't have to fix it...they could drop 10.10 in your face..and you'll upgrade.

it is. after 99.9%, you increment up to 100%, not 99.10%...because that's 99.1%, which is lower than 100%. 99.09% increments up to 99.1%.

I don't think they realized it was an opinion piece. Gurman rarely writes them. (Not that that is an excuse--it was obvious the way the article was written.)
 
forget the complete overhaul, just the word "flatter" stood out as iOS7 like since they did the same there.

Why is Apple so seriously about designing everything we use around iOS 7 and maybe forth coming iOS versions. ?

Apple did say "Bring it back to the Mac." They never said about design, only features..

And even though it bugs the hell outta me i gotta switch them all off, coz Apple refuses to give you one convenient switch during setup to disable all at once. how is that exactly easy ?



Like like how MS is bring full version of Windows to tablet, Apple is bring iOS to Mac.... To me, their both need to bang their heads together and think what makes better sense on a desktop than mobile features..

Then again, the other reason why they can only tell us this, is because they have run out of fresh/new ideas for the Mac, This makes sense, so like a rotary system, anything added to iOS, we gotta add it to the Mac too in a future version, because we can't just ADD something new and refreshing to the to desktop..

All the features as of now in Mavericks already exist in iOS.... There is nothing unique that make a desktop OS any different... Mountain Lion was was last version hat actually meant something. No wonder people are rolling back.

Add to the constant crashing and bugs in Mail that Apple still can't get to work, even with updates. but that's a whole another issue.
 
God, the "basic math" gremlins always show themselves when 10.10 is mentioned. I'm not even going to bother joining the crowd explaining that one...
how 'bout "OS X X.X" :D:D:D

I wouldn't mind something like this but I don't want anything too crazy. :)

Whenever I see 10.10 I cringe, 10.10=10.1

So 10.4.10 was some kind of black magic? :p

When will people learn that version numbers are not decimal numbers. I find it strange people complain about 10.10, yet 10.9.1 is perfectly fine (yet I've never come across a dual-decimal number before...)
 
At least call it "10.9.5".

I'd expect this from maybe Tupperware, or Victoria's Secret (the next generation of our best bra ever!), but not an engineering/tech company.

Basic math, Apple. You're not gonna keep the education market like this...

OTOH, there's no such thing as bad publicity, right?

10.1 and 10.10 are not the same thing. It's version numbers not decimals.
 
This should be fun and exciting. I hope Apple nails it with OSX 10.10

I dislike iOS7. :(
 
D*mn, just fire Jony from UI design, he has absolutely no experience whatsoever in Software Engineering. He will ask for the impossible and people will have to obey, the OSX will be slower than iOS7 because he does not have a clue about engineering.

And Federigi is just a puppet, sad, sad, sad.

That looks cool. Maybe a bit too crazy, but I like it overall.

Glossy icons and exaggerated drop shadows are going by the wayside it seems (which doesn't bother me one bit).

Well, I first saw this report from his twitter feed and he referred to it as "opinion" but now I don't see that tweet (or he changed it). When people write opinion pieces they should be very that's what it is in the title.
 
They should have saved the Mavericks name for 10.10.
Hang 10? 10.10

I'd dig an OS X 10.10 Alcatraz. Maybe they'll save that for iOS 10 so it can't be jailbroken.

Hmm this seems more like an opinion piece from Gurman, not that he has inside information from someone at Apple. MR should update the title to reflect that.

Isn't every analyst claim an opinion? I don't think they ever have inside information. They all just speak out of their a**
