I think I'll wait with this one. I'm still traumatized by how many of my work apps ceased to work on Yosemite. Took like two months until everything was back to normal. Also rootless is a scary "feature".

For the sake of saving me a search (thanks to anyone!), Final Cut X doesn't work at all in El Capitan?

Speed and stability are excellent.

Except for one app that most folks probably don't use: Outlook 2011. Beach ball city.

I don't know if anyone else has had this problem but ? I have been using it with only 1 bug when I have mail opened but the window closed for no reason later the window opens by itself and I have to click on a different folder then back to the in folder to see what is written, so now I just hide mail until I want to use it. I have sent a report to Apple
FIXED

I'm waiting a while to update my macbook air because I previously updated to the GM on 2 other mac's both have application compatibility issues now.

If you're a video professional (like me) you might want to wait a few maintenance releases before upgrading. The underlying changes to Metal have caused plenty of problems with video plugins.

Anyone installed it on a 2011 MacBook Air? Wondering how it runs compared to Yosemite.

Really excited for this update. Looking forward to the performance improvements, not that my mac has any performance issues but come on. Who doesn't want them?

Good question: What applications are broken by this update?
I see very little activity on Roaring Apps.

Time Machine backups today!
From my experience AutoCAD and QuarkXpress are having issues still. Both won't function more than a minute after loading. To Quarks credit they have been warning not to update until they have their software ready, likely 2-3 weeks from now.

No word from AutoDesk on AutoCAD though.

"rootless" is a feature that makes your Mac MORE secure.

You've still got root - you can still use 'sudo' - You've just got another layer of protection. The 'root' user can't write to /System, /bin, /sbin or /usr (except /usr/local). A few other security things 'root' user can't do as well. It protects you from having software ask for the root user, you give it root user privileges, and then it modifies your system files. It can't do this anymore.

Look here: http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/193368/what-is-the-rootless-feature-in-el-capitan-really

(You can turn it off if you want as well)

Performance will be better compared to a turd like Yosemite, but I bet it's way behind Snow Leopard or even Mountain Lion.

Would it still be recommended to do a fresh install? Or would doing a regular update be just as good. Usually I do a fresh install.
