Resume is not really a problem

Actually this whole post is very misleading. Yes things have changed in Lion and yes applications that use the new APIs resume from where they were when you closed them. But then again they don't really. Say you have QT open (same example as the one given here) if you just quit the application the next time you open it the movie will start from where you were, hence the potentially embarrassing situations that a few have referred to. HOWEVER, if you close the window and then exist the application no movie will resume and the supposed problem is no longer a problem. Yes this is not very intuitive to Windows users but if you have been using a Mac for a while you do know that there is a huge divide between window and application so I really don't see this being a problem once you get used to the way Lion works. Oh and for those that use the keyboard all the time Cmd+W before Cmd+Q gives you the privacy you need. But with a simple hack you an force OS X to never resume (if that's what you're after).

good tip to know, I usually just use the Cmd +Q, auto opening the last document is something I turn off if an app does this by default as I find it annoying

Just need a way to stop apps auto saving, then I will be much happier

It is a change in the way we use our Macs. It will be a small change for some people and a bigger one for others.

You can use Cmd+Opt+Q to close an app without saving its state.
You can also start app by clicking on its icon and pressing the Shift key on the same time, thus avoiding any restoring going on...

What about public places like libraries. Imagine quitting Safari with some important stuff and the next person to sit down can see all your previous stuff.
