I heard the iOS 7 GM was the same as the official released version. I guess that will be the same for this OS X Mavericks GM as well? Think I might as well reinstall from now. Have we ever had a GM which had a different hash than the official released version?

I don't know if there has been an OSX "GM" that didn't end up being final, but they have done multiple GMs for iOS at least once. The GM has ended up being final almost always, but since the rare exception is possible, if you want the official release version, best to wait until it goes public.

Question for anyone who has been using the 10.9 GM, did Apple fix OS X so that NFSv4 works properly?

I seriously DOUBT it! This one is worse then the last update!
Iphoto wont start at ALL anymore and iMessage is worse then ever!:(

I read that iPhoto needs to be updated to 9.4.7 to work properly with macs, afaik the update hasn't been released the app store yet.

What issues have you had with messages? I've had no issues with it yet, but I only use it for google talk and Facebook chat, seems to work as well as it was in ML for me.

Max,

I found this here in the forums awhile back. It works like a charm. The hitch was you needed the full installer of DP4. I'm combing through the comments to see if there is a change. Also someone over in the Dev Forums said it worked for the GM.

You can make a bootable usb for DP4 with these steps (make sure the Install OS X 10.9 Developer Preview.app file is in the Applications folder and your USB is called Untitled):

1. Run the following command in Terminal

sudo /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ 10.9\ Developer\ Preview.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/Untitled --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ 10.9\ Developer\ Preview.app --nointeraction

2. Wait till you see all this (It took me 20 minutes):

Erasing Disk: 0%... 10%... 20%...100%...
Copying installer files to disk...
Copy complete.
Making disk bootable...
Copying boot files...
Copy complete.
Done.

This methods method works without a hitch, and one of the really nice things about it, it creates the recovery partition as well.

And I found this somewhere here:

sudo /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Mavericks.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/Untitled --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Mavericks.app --nointeraction

Thank you. The last command is what worked for me.

Yeah. The last command is for the GM.

The previous instructions were for DP4. It's very similar, just that the installers had different names and the commands are therefore slightly different.

I woke up to a notification on my Mac saying that it's ready to install Mavericks GM.

I'm not registered or anything like that. Was just running beta 8.

Yep same here. I'm a developer but I haven't had a chance to update it yet. Saw the Mac App store had a update notification update thinking it was just a standard application updating and come to find out it was the GM update.

iPhoto

There seems to be a lot of confusion about iPhoto in 10.9.

I did a clean install of Mavericks and then migrated all my stuff over from ML, including all Apps. iPhoto migrated fine and I can confirm the old version works perfectly fine; iPhoto 11 ver 9.4.3. This has also been confirmed as working by a number of other members on the AppleSeed forums.

Apple however did seed a beta build of iPhoto (version 9.4.6) to Devs and AppleSeed users along with DP5. It's a pre-release iPhoto version that was only meant to be tested along with 10.9 DP but the old version (9.4.3) again was verified as working - it's just that Apple wanted to test a new version that I presume will be launched with or near the 10.9 release and they wanted to make sure it doesn't have compatibility issues. Ver 9.4.6 had major stability issues (kept crashing) so it was updated to 9.4.7. Only those who are running 9.4.6 should see the update in the MAS, others won't.

So if you have issues with ver 9.4.3 under 10.9 then you most likely have other underlying issues with either your 10.9 install and/or your old iPhoto/library.

I say apple release it for free and charge in app for tags books and what not. Always the best strategy

Any idea why my MacBook Air runs so hot under Mavericks? With ML i had temps around 50°C but under MV it's suddenly ~80°C. Under the same load. I just don't get it.

Open Activity Monitor and see what processes are hogging your CPU.

Anyone else have this in the App Store after installing the GM?

oh boy.
The multiple display stuff in the GM is still buggy as hell. It's hardly even beta level :(
With 2 Displays it's bad.. and with 3 it's even worse.
Docks disappear for now reason.
Menu bars appear in fullscreen contexts.
Menu bars disappear for now reason.
Icons jumping around in the menu bar.

.

It's 100 times better than ML though.

I'm using a KVM switch to share monitor and keyboard mouse with a Mac Mini and a PC running Ubuntu. After Mavericks DP7, Mac mini randomly freezes when I switch to it. It never happened when running Mountain Lion. The up-side is, with 4G memory, Mac mini is much more responsive now. But the random freeze is really bothering me.

I don't have any of those issues and I use two screens all day. I think it's awesome now.
