No, but if I talk ****, I look pretty lame when I can't back it up.
Yes, you do. Apple has very clear documentation on their website about Mac OS X features and what they're designed to do. Most users are able to read this documentation and determine which features they can use and which ones don't address their particular needs. Most users are also mature enough to know that because Apple builds the OS for a large audience, there will always be some features that a particular user will have no need for. That doesn't represent a flaw or problem or need for a solution, and it doesn't mean that anyone else has to justify their use of a feature to someone who doesn't "get it". I have no need for the iMovie application, but I'm not foolish enough to suggest that Apple made a mistake by including it with my Mac. I also don't expect others to explain to me why or how they use iMovie, since their needs aren't the same as mine. I simply don't use it.

Horrible logic. Im not saying omit Expose and Spaces. im saying they need a real solution to the problems these don't solve. Read the title.

I'll say it again.... maybe you'll catch on sometime soon: Apple doesn't design Mac OS X to satisfy the needs of every single person. They have a solution for windows management that satisfies the vast majority of Mac users, or you would have heard a significant public outcry about it. Because you have specific needs that aren't addressed does NOT represent a failure or flaw or oversight on Apple's part. Your options for a solution are:
  • Find a 3rd party application that does what you want
  • Design a solution yourself
  • Send feedback to Apple: http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html
  • Wait to see if Apple comes up with something different in the future
  • Go back to using Windows
  • Do without the specific functionality you want
Ranting about it on a forum will NOT provide a solution.

apple+tab and apple+~ are all you need. Not wanting to use your left hand seems like a you problem. There are hundreds of key commands that will make your life easier if you actually care to use them.

There's times I want to just order things online and have them delivered. Then there's times I want to run to the store to get something. Usually I'd rather just order it online and not make the trip unless I had to. Call me lazy and we can discuss personal fitness.

That's rickydiculous.

I guess it makes sense if you don't use any other key commands that you would think it's hard to do. Lots of things are hard if you don't know what you're doing.

Its not hard to press keys, Im doing it now. Its a hassle to press keys when your hand is somewhere else and it needs to be moved to press a key that is done easily with just a mouse on another OS (IE clicking a window on the taskbar). Why do people set edge zones on their screen if keyboard are so easy?

You have expose in the dock or in hot corners, and there is spaces. What else do you need?

Apple has a flawless window management system at the moment, just work harder at making it work for your needs. ;)

How is Expose flawlesss and why should I work harder to make it fit my needs? You Apple users confuse me sometmes. Please read the original post as to why Expose is a poorly done feature and reply again. A wink face at the end of an excuse doesnt make it any less lame.

Mike225 you must have a sad lonely life if all you have better to do is come to a mac forum and insult it. If you don't like it, don't use it. Simple. For the rest of us we love it and it works.

If you can't adapt to a second operating system, oh well its your problem not ours.

It's the typical troll strategy. Come to the forums, list a bunch of things that they think Windows does better, demand that Mac users admit OS X's inferiority, and stubbornly refuse to see any kind of reason or logical inconsistency in their or anyone else's responses.

Ho hum, so goes MR. The only thing missing from this thread is a potshot at the iPhone 4.

I'm at work, friend. You guys can have about 6.5 more hours of me until the weekend.

Ive been pretty reasonable with the one person who's come up with a decent reply, Mr. 80/30.

If you would notice Im not trying to argue Windows > OS X. Im arguing a specific feature set of OS X which I feel needs improvement. It's just hilarious because its the two features you guys always tout like its some kind of revolutionary window switcher.

Without getting in the platform trolling, I'd just like to suggest this as a nice utility that lets you do window switching vs. app switching:

http://manytricks.com/witch/

I'm pretty sure that's not going to solve the original poster's problem, but I've found it useful in the past and didn't see it mentioned.

Notice that this is an opinion, not an argument reducible to facts like you want it to be.

No, we recognize the difference between a fact ("Expose has shortcomings.") and an opinion ("I think Expose has shortcomings.").

Obvious Troll is obvious.

I highly prefer, Apple's poor excuse, Exposé over those Aero features.
BTW, you should change your OP's Title to:

"Microsoft needs a real operating system. Windows 7 is a poor excuse."

Give me a good example of when someone would use Spaces besides having two workflows to control. I watched some kid use Spaces in a lecture to transfer notes from one presentation to a document. I about slapped him watching the "Spaces" switch back and forth every 5 seconds.

Im thinking, reorganize the windows to the same screen at once or just switch between the open windows like a normal person.

What?

I use spaces all the time at work. I have one desktop for corp email/timecard/productivity management. One for call handling, and basic logging. One for mail set up problems. One for itunes/media. One for a web browser. One for iWork (mostly numbers). One for command line/desktop/finder work. One for tools....i guess i could go on...but desktop switching works beautifully for me...and it's something windows can't do in such an intuitive way..
Just so you know, i use a late 2009 imac, aluminum keyboard, and scroll ball style "mighty" mouse. I have the "squeeze" buttons for expose, and scroll ball click set for spaces+command # and command arrow for space switching.

1)I like spaces and find it suits my own style of desktop management.
2)Can't say I really use Exposé, I prefer apple-tabbing between applications.
3)The windows 7 pre-emptive window snapping feature is really nice and I look forward to Apple nicking it in 10.7.

That said, what percentage of the time that you've saved with the funky Windows 7 features (and I mean that sincerely, they are very funky) have you wasted on this pointless thread? D'oh.

I use Spaces every day, all the time. I try to group similar apps that work well together. For instance, Mail, iCal, and Address Book all share one space. And then I have another space just for iWork, and another Space entirely for iTunes and iLife apps

On the other hand, I never really got into using Exposé. I navigate better by app than by window. Not to mention Exposé is a mouse feature, and I prefer the keyboard in most cases But I am a natural Command+Tab user, and have found it to be an integral part of my Mac workflow.
