lol @ all the people saying "back to chrome". Chrome run by the same company that made the glitch happen on youtube.

Did you see the previous posts that point out that this problem exists outside of Safari?

Yes, but is the issue also happening with Chrome? There's been reports here of it happening with Firefox and IE and on Windows, ect. But that doesn't change the fact that it makes sense to use Chrome if the issue isn't happening in it. (Speaking for those people -- I'm not that hooked you youtube to give up Firefox/Pale Moon and the extensions I use on it).

I don't surf the web to use my web browser, I surf the web to use the web. If the websites that are most important to me do not work in a certain browser, I will change browsers.

Different YouTube issue on FireFox on Yosemite...

Not only Safari is having issues... ...but dunno if it's Yosemite or FireFox or YouTube's problem, since "auto play" is a fairly new feature on YT's side....

...so when I pick and watch a video, these days videos just keep playing one after the other...

...but since around the time I updated Yosemite, after the first one plays fine, the next ones each play a few seconds to a minute or so and then bounce to the next.... ....to the next... ...to the next... ....etc.

I just found the "auto play" button (it looks like Ghostery's tracker on-off sliders) and seemed to be able to watch any particular video, but maddening otherwise....

....anyone else noticing this? On any browser....??

I don't visit the forum frequently but when I saw this article had to add to. I've noticed problems in Firefox since Yosemite update, thought it was a glitch on YouTube.

Doesn't happen all the time, but videos will start to play for maybe 3-4 seconds with audio cutting in and out, then the image goes pixelated/distorted & eventually I get the error message.

Usually after clearing the cache (cmd+shift+backspace) and refreshing the page the video will load correctly, but minutes later it can happen again.

Anyone else experiencing this?

It's happening with Chrome for Android...

Highly recommend anyone running Safari should be running Click-to-Plugin.
Solves so many problems. With it, you probably won't even need Flash installed.
Keep Yosemite pure. As Jobs intended it.
I have no other browsers installed. Don't need them.

I get perfect playback for a few seconds in Firefox, then the next vid, the next, the next. And pressing pause doesn't help either... ...no pixelation, distortion or error messages...

....I turned off autoplay and turned it back on.. ...when I was finally able to find it... ...it appears on the upper right on some YT screens, but not others - very confusing....

I thought it was a new programming error in YT since they're changing things constantly, however... ....I can't seem to replicate the problem in Safari, ... ...playlists just seem to work...

But not sure, as there are times when playing any video seems to start a "playlist" as opposed to actually selecting a mix... ...and don't have to time experiment right now with all the YT ways of doing things in Safari...

....anyway, lots going on the site but still a mishmosh..

...and how about being able to see playlists in alphabetical order when you're adding things... ...is it by last added? Doesn't seem to be... ...what a mess...

Yep, happened to me last night

Let me explain something to you so you get a "clear" understanding of how things work. It's not Apple's responsibility to update Flash that is Adobe's thing since they ARE the makers of the software. Apple doesn't own the source code or even have access to it so how is that Apple's fault? Then again you're blaming Apple still about YouTube's screw up. (Even though it works now and Apple didn't even need to release an update?) With all these updates to Yosemite that's been coming out I know a lot of it is caused by people upgrading from beta and refusing to do a clean install. (Which everybody should've done in the first place!)

As for your Final Cut Pro problems it's running smooth here without any problems... So maybe you should do a clean install of the OS instead of leaving beta files all in your system.

Do you actually believe that people should be expected to do a CLEAN INSTALL of Yosemite, losing all their programs, files, documents, then reinstall everything from scratch all over again? That would be a totally clean install.

If you meant using the Apple standard method of restoring all of that after the install, then I've already done that.

Basically what I'm saying is I've already done the latter clean install and still have a download of the General Master release of Yosemite as well to do it again from a working version of Mavericks.

But the question begs... WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO DO THIS REPEATEDLY?
Is this like my payback for joining the Yosemite Beta program?

Keep Yosemite pure. As Jobs intended it.

And what is the purpose of Click-to-Plugin that Safari itself doesn't already offer? I can already disable various plug-ins if I want.

"Keep it pure. As Jobs intended it." How does Click-to-Plugin make it pure?

Yosemite is an operating system, not a religion.

Are you serious?

Well

I have the plug-in -- its name escapes me -- Flash blocker? -- the one that puts up a little sign and you have to tap it for Flash (or HTML 5) to play. Zero problems on You Tube. If I want to play either, click, it plays.

Click to flash doesn't work properly on Youtube without flash installed.
I re-nstalled flash and it works perfectly now

A lot of people are getting this problem in autoplay, I do experience it every now and again in a playlist but it mostly occurs for me on random individual videos, not only when in HQ or anything like that...

As you've said, YouTube seem to be constantly updating and changing things, so could be an issue on their end maybe.

It really is sad. I can't think of any other time in Apple history they've had so many issues all at one time. iPhones bending, iPads vibrating, iOS 8.0.1 literally ruining devices, poor wifi issues in Yosemite, a buggy, buggy iOS 8, - the list is endless. It's just sad.

How about in 1995 when they shipped PCI PowerMacintosh systems with System 7.5.3 where doing anything on the network or internet resulted in 5 crashes per hour on average(full system crashes). The beta of 7.5.4 (dropped just before release, and 7.5.5 ultimately released) reduced this to once an hour.
(and not enough ram to run quicktime videos that came on the CD with the system)

Honestly I have seen the same basic statement from different people every year since I started using Macs in 1994.
This year is always the year that Apple's QA has been the worst :)

Personally I don't update my work computer until the X.X.3 update or later (like 10.9.3) - only updating personal or test systems to early releases to test for compatibility.

SO true. Now that Apple OS'es are dropping one a year, being Apple's free beta testers AFTER release is the dumbest way to go. I always wait until X.X.5 or X.X.6. Releases after that (until the very last) are more problematic too I've found.

:apple:

I hear you. However, that's one system issue whereas these days Apple is dropping the ball in multiple departments. That wouldn't have been historically possible since Apple was a bit of a one-trick pony back then. :)

"Keep it pure. As Jobs intended it." How does Click-to-Plugin make it pure?

Yosemite is an operating system, not a religion.

I use it because it's nice to click a link and not have various flash videos or ads or etc. start randomly playing in the background making noise. Also, it's nice because you are able to download the video with an option in the right click context menu. Lastly, there's an option in the right click context menu to open the video in Quicktime player.

What albusseverus probably meant by "keep it pure" is that with clicktoplugin you are able to view many videos across the web using html5 instead of the default player when without clicktoplugin the html5 video option would have been unavailable to you (and only present on devices such as the iPad that lack flash player). Can you disable the flash plugin and just never use flash? Sure, but of course then it becomes a longer process when you encounter a video where flash is your only option to view. Clicktoplugin makes resorting back to flash if necessary as simple as one mouse click.
