I cannot swipe between face?
I cannot fit all my apps on one face so i have to swipe between faces frequently.
Now i have to hold and change faces?
What a hassle!!!

Drama much? One "feature" change hardly constitutes a "failure". My issue was inadvertent watch face changes... this feature solves that for me... one man's trash is another man's treasure. If that's all you got, moving on.

These types of bombastic titles are tiresome… why not call it: ‘who else misses swiping watch faces in WatchOS 10?’. Come on, enough with the bombastic statements.

And for me: I missed swiping at first, but then realized I can use the scroll wheel for my most commonly used functions. I just wish (are you listening Apple/developers?) I could use ALL my complications, in stead of the bunch Apple allows now. Or maybe the developers need to update their apps? I don’t know.

No way. watchOS10 is much better. all the little things make more sense, particularly switching between apps mimics how the iPhone (with home button) did it

Removing the swiping between Watch faces is a complete bummer to me as well.

Not sure how other people use their watch, but for me quickly swiping through different face is the single most used interaction I do with the Watch. Different faces have different info and complications to access the stuff I use the Watch for.

I setup a new SE for my mother and found it barely unusable. Glad though I could test drive the new watchOS this way.

Won’t update my Series 7 until they bring swiping through faces back (at least as an option). And if they don’t this will have been my last Apple Watch.

Carrot weather works in the Smart Stack (and the Smart Stack widget) so the answer is, bug your favorite developer to update their apps.

I mostly agree with and share the common complaints about the latest watchOS update, however, I’m glad to say I’ve managed to just let it go over the past few weeks… hate and failure are pretty exaggerated /melodramatic words for such a trivial part of life….

Also I was (still am when I think of it) very annoyed by the poor battery life, but thankfully it’s leveled off if not improved, and I’ve accepted (yet again) to have to just charge the dang thing 2x a day.

Meanwhile as jz____ said above, being able to group your most used apps in that new grid view is awesome, saves me lots of time and frustration vs. the older grid… so I guess for me, with this and many updates, there are “win some, lose some” aspects…

Just my two cents.

Has anyone found a way to lock your device when starting an exercise? You used to be able when starting a workout

Apple has lost at least 479€ due to OS10. The money I wanted to spend on a Series9.
Removing the swipe makes me angry as hell.
But not only this: the horrible new weather app, the horrible new activity app....I only use them as a complication, do not tap them anymore.

And I´m realizing I cannot "let it go" - even after three weeks now.
IMHO using different faces is THE way to use the watch to its full potential.
Men..how often I showed it to non Apple guys: You can make it look like this..swipe..or this..swipe..and their eyes getting bigger and bigger.

And I´m so surprised that obviously many other people use their watch totally different than me.
The grid? I´ve been there perhaps 10x a YEAR. Why scrolling through this mess of icons when I can start it by a tap on the complication of the app?

With Watch OS 10 the watch - which was my favorite apple device - has become like a Mi band with only one watch face. Using Infograph now, do not change the face anymore, it looks boring since the three weeks now.

Could write a lot more, but I have to go now...perhaps later.

More people accidentally swiped between faces than did so deliberately. It made sense to axe it.
That was me. Found the swipe gesture very annoying and in the past had looked for a way to disable it. Glad it’s no longer the default behaviour myself, although I think they could have left the option for those that liked it as a lock/unlock sort of feature, like rotation lock on other devices.

That said, long press then swipe doesn’t add too much IMO and is how I always wanted to swap faces.

I think OP is a failure.

The new watch OS is so much better and gives options that make watch faces with only 1 or 2 complications make sense. Now you can put a lot of stuff that you want for easy access to, but don’t need to show information at all times, in widgets so you don’t need to only use the super cluttered watch faces.

change the app view to grid, then re-arrange the icons to have your most used ones at the top - works better (for me) than the most recent ones
yes, but for my use cases, the quick & easy jump to most recently used is a crucial feature that I miss dearly.

those disturbing animated emoji

I'd completely forgotten about these! And don't forget the creepy glove. When did these disappear?

Yes, i took a good bit of time to get used to. But it’s way better for me and the AW users I’ve met irl.

Especially some of the older family members in my family would swipe between Watch faces unintentionally daily. Or struggle to swipe just the right way to bring up the Control Center.

Having the app switcher only accessible through the double press on the Digital Crown makes it much harder to trigger accidentally.

For me, I feel like interacting with apps is quite a bit faster and with less errors because I don’t trigger the Control Center or switch watch faces so easily.

Being able to “combine” a simple Watch face with the easy access to the widget Smart Stack by swiping up or turning the Digital Crown also allows me to opt for a watch face with no complications while still having quick access to them without having to switch to a different Watch face.

I do, however, agree that most of these shouldn’t be forced upon the user but just be default options that can be set back to how they worked in WatchOS 9.

But I guess that’s just how Apple does these updates.

I definitely think watchOS 10 requires learning new ways to do things, but overall, it’s a great update. I really enjoy what they’ve done with the Digital Crown button and side button. As far as apps displayed, I like how they’ve optimized the new Ultra Modular Watch face. I have 8 of my most used apps as complications. There are similar faces available for non-Ultra watches as well. How many more apps do you need access to on a regular basis that you can’t use as 1 of 8 complications?

Been using Apple Watch since day 1. Many years now. I *never* liked the face swap feature. Way too easy to accidentally trigger. The logic of this issue is more than amply addressed by the new widget feature. You just need to get used to swiping up. It's a lot like the way the "dock" worked in the first version.
That’s theoretically true but widgets and complications are not 1:1 and some of my most important complications (from medical apps) will be slow as hell to release widgets… if they ever do.

Also I’m not sure if it’s just me but I’m not seeing many options for widgets (I also really wish I could customize my stack on my phone but I can’t see how.. I find the watch ui for it to not be great)

they should have given us a standard way of adapting a 1x1 or 1x3 complication into a widget so you can use them in the new stack view if you want.

So you long-press for a second before you swipe swipe swipe. Same as choosing different phone lock screens.

I had assumed this was a glitch that will be reinstated. If not, it begins the steady decline in usefulness of the watch. I swiped between two faces A LOT and would love to continue to do so. It massively limits the functionality for me.

edit: okay, perhaps I should have read more. The “tap then swipe” interface is annoying but at least I don’t have to do something on the phone to change the face. Still: way more annoying than the previous behaviour for me.
