Would you use MAC OSX on other OEM's

*sigh* I don't think so.

Yeah, I agree. I had traditionally said no to this question, because there wasn't really a piece of hardware that would tempt me to do it, and I still say no on the issue of cost -- I wouldn't do it because the non-Apple hardware would be cheaper. But I love my Eee, and yeah, if one could legally run Tiger or Leopard on it, and it had compatibility with all the internal hardware (don't care about any additional external hardware compatibility, as I don't own any that doesn't work on Macs already), yeah, I would gladly pay $129 or whatever for an OS X license to use on this instead of Ubuntu....

all the hackintosh and osx on other hardware crap in mr latley is starting to annoy me, mac os, is the os for macs, tight integration is why it is so good, a vertical solution, its the whole point in apple and the mac. If you start factoring in hacking, or even other support the whole business changes, software becomes more buggy, support becomes scattered and apples whole business would start to change and not for the better, It aint gonna happen, and I think i speak for most of us when i say we dont want it too, This is why we are mac users. rant over :)

I recently built one of these "hackintoshs". Spent about $1200 to get a 3 Ghz Core 2, an 8800GTS and 4gb of RAM. All with a nice 24 incher.

Obviously much more bang for my buck then any Mac I've owned.

Surprisingly it runs VERY stable and extremely fast (OC'ed to 3.75 Ghz; Xbench of 216).

Installation and updating (10.5.3) were very simple and easy. Everything just works.

That said; I will likely always buy Apple hardware. This was merely an experiment to see what all the hype was about. And I must say, some of the hype is very warranted and should make even the Mac faithful stop and think.

It is big ugly and loud; nothing like my iMac... It is however, a much better performer.

Os X for pcs

if apple finally gets over themselves and does realease a version of 10.5 or announce pc support for 10.6 would you buy a copy. I don't have a mac, want one but can't afford one:(, if they were to realease os x for of I would buy a copy.

:confused:IF THEY REALEASED A VERSION OF OSX FOR PCS WOULD YOU BUY IT FOR YOUR PC? (IF YOU HAVE ONE)?:apple:

"Gets over themselves?" That is how Apple stays in business! There is nothing about pride here, other than the fact that they are proud of the machines they design. And they should be; they design beautiful computers and software.

And no, I wouldn't buy a copy. Part because of my protest against it, and part because I will never own a Windows computer again. If Apple released a clone-compatible copy of Mac OS X (which they won't, thankfully) Mac OS X would go downhill, just like Windows.

Yes. The built in spell checker is really useful.

Too funny :)

The very reason I buy a mac is because they design software for their own hardware. In the end you get a much nicer product even if you're limited with your choices.

No, even though currently I'm running it on my PC for two reasons

a.) the only reason why I'm doing this is because OSX is a better operating system and I enjoy it so much more and am waiting for a Macbook update and this is the only way I can cope.

b.) Like others have said there are so many compatibility issues with different things. I have no audio without using a different audio card and that only works for a few seconds.

What makes a Mac a Mac is not only the operating system but also the hardware and I can't see having OS X on a different machine for everyone.
