Iphone.
Sim.
I would also prefer a bunch of iPads and AW without an Iphone.
It is more convenient to work on a tablet, and answer calls via airpods with AW.
but, as I said, in our country, unfortunately, there is no Sim in AW.
the watch I use also for sports functions

I've never thought of it as anything useful. Too fragile to be a serious timepiece, does nothing a phone and dedicated sports band can't do, and demands too much attention to be practical. It's never really been fashionable either, more like a Mickey Mouse watch, a kitschy, overpriced toy. I respect Apple's marketing skills tho, selling so many semi-conscious consumers on a shiny, expensive trinket.
I too didn’t “get it” until I got it.

As for me, it's more than a fashion item, but more for monitoring my heart rate since I have a thyroid condition and the Apple Watch can monitor if the heart rate is too high or low. Also, I keep track of my activity to make sure I excersize for 30 minutes a day and burn enough calories. I have my Apple Watch Series 4 and it's worth it, although I only use like a few apps on the watch.

As everyone say, it's not for everyone. I primarily have it for the health features since Apple is better than the competition, that is about it.

Hope you keep good health and AW helps your case for sure with good fashion.

The AW is simply said a remote for your iphone.
Despite LTE, GPS etc it is not a true standalone device, as it is designed like that by Apple.

I tried hard with LTE but it has quite alot first and 3th party app limitations, and lots of build in features that are half baked on standalone mode.

The AW is a great motivator if you sport a lot, i ride 250+ km a week on my bike and Strava is my baby.
I really want it to work standalone to get rid of having to use my iphone/smartphone in general, it would suit my usecase perfectly, but it does not :(

It takes me 2 seconds longer to start via my iphone, a HR strap is more accurate as well, so i start to doubt replacing my AW4 when it dies of old age to be frank.

In my opinion the AW is a "Smart" watch for the common people that do not desire that much beside being able to see all their social media likes instantly, have a general overview of their health that is overall not that accurate (many individual test have show that (HR/ SPO/ EGC etc) its not a gimmic but it needs at least 10 year more development.

Please can you post some examples of these tests.

You are using the 3rd party apps incorrectly than. Workoutdoors is nearly flawless. As far as HR straps, they get a lot of dropouts also. The idea is to get trends with training, nothing will be 100% accurate. I care about my training and not the smart features. I also find Apple to be MUCH more accurate than Garmin metric wise.

That is the easy answer, you Are USSing It WroNG.
No i don`t i have tested it numerous times and used my AW4 as my main device for a year in 2018 and it worked half baked.

You have your opinion i have mine, and mine is that the device is a great fun gadget for the not so serious sporting types, and that you you will have to make concessions in regards of the "smart" in the watch. But for plenty of people they do not see/use the watch with the same usecase/needs out of a smartwatch.

Different people different strokes.

Iphone.
Sim.

English please.

My $29 Timex was my fashion and status statement. My AW tells time and is a useful tool for work or play. Gave the Times away.

my Watch for me is... (in this order)

1) a clock
2) a convenient way to pick up calls if you don't always want to get your phone out and / or don't want to risk dropping it in certain situations
3) a remote control for my Apple Music playlists
5) quick way to view incoming emails and messages without having to reach for my phone

Apple pay could also prove handy, but i'm not using it

all the fitness and health monitoring related things are disabled to greatly improve battery life as i am physically active enough to have no need for these

is it an absolutely must have?
no, but it is far more than just some gimmick to me that is making my life easier in many ways and could provide even more goodies, if i actually needed those.

Yes, an iPad is more productive than an iPhone. However, I have given up on the idea of an AW for now. It will probably take some time before AW can be paired with an iPad (or work completely independently).
I corrected my text. my English is not very good yet.
Thanks! It doesn't matter if your English isn't perfect. Google Translate works quite well. :) English isn't my language either.

For me, it is a tool to get my Training into Garmin Connect and Training Peaks. Apples fitness health leaves a lot to be desired but rungap transfers everything over.
