That said I usually don't get appetizers. Usually will order them at a happy hour because they are the ones half off.

Pan fried scallops
That might very well be my favourite, too...

A nice starter for most meat dishes, and I always have a meat dish...

I also got a small filet of lamb (I think it was) with some sauce, a while back, that was very nice. Don't exactly know what it was, since it was with complements of the owner because one in out party knew a guy that knew a guy... I might have to go back and have another sample or two... ;)

Not to answer your question . . . I rarely eat appetizers and I eat salad after the main dish. Prefer to dig right in to the good stuff.

Chinese - spring rolls. In fact, Christmas Eve dinner we ate at a Chinese restaurant (I know, how A Christmas Story can you get?) and the appetizer tray had spring rolls, barbequed ribs, fried shrimp, won ton and a beef kabob that you roasted yourself over a mini-stove they brought to your table.

Italian - mozzarella sticks.
(esp. when I spell "mozzarella" correctly! :) )

The best appetizer I've ever had was at a locally owned restaurant nearby. It was called a "scallop blt" and consisted of pan seared scallops sliced in half, filled with roasted bacon, arugula, and tomato-thyme confit, and topped with a small heirloom tomato. Absolutely delicious. Unfortunately, it's off the menu now (changes seasonally).

Edit: Found a picture. Bad lighting though.
