They have GREAT customer service ! They sent me a new Otterbox for my 3G when the silicone ripped, they sent it to me sight unseen (no proof needed). Amazing company, and was my preferred case for my iPhone 3G.

They required that I take a picture of the case with a sign that had my name and date on it. Not asking much so I didn't mind. Their CS is definitely top notch.

Maybe it's your case, I've accidentally dropped mine from a the second floor of Apt Building on hard concrete and it works like a champion, no blemishes on the phone or the case.

Definitely buy this from an AT&T store. You can weasel them down big time. I got mine (iPhone 4 Defender, $50) for $25.

It's a pretty good case. Definitely not worried about the protection, but it is kind of annoying in everyday use. You CANNOT have a screen protector on either side with this case. It tore both sides off of mine, and you get major watermarks with a front screen protector (Zagg).

How many other cases did you test before you decided this? What tests did you put them through?

Or are you just saying this because your phone is still intact after all your abuse?

I think my expectations were high. I was expecting what I once read: "the hummer of iphone cases". Perhaps they meant relative to what is available.

The ballistic case looks like the otterbox tweaked but without hands on experience, I can't comment. Suppose I'll order one and see if it's the better mousetrap.

Umm none! I gave my opinion on the Otterbox Defender which is what this thread starter was asking about.

The sign of great quality & a intelligent purchase is doing research & buying something once & being satisfied with your purchase without regret!

You people all think the grass is greener on the other side so spend away and get 20 cases:rolleyes:

I had a Speck Tough Skin case for my 3G for a couple of years & thought it was a great case. Its very bulky but tough.

So for my iP4 I wanted to go with another Speck & got the Defender. Its much slimmer & dosent feel nearly as protective. But over all, I find it a very nice, tough case if it did seem a bit over priced...

I just ordered one from Amazon - $29.99 and free shipping.

Yeah, that's what I used. She said $40 was as low as she could go. I pulled it up on Amazon and it was $30, but I don't think it was prime eligible then. She said "well you can get it right here, right now without paying shipping". I told her that I get free next day delivery from Amazon. She took my word for it and brought the price down to $25. Plus, I was able to choose a color (black, white, pink).

Just so we're both clear: You're stating that I will not find a better case and you're basing this off of admittedly, no experience with other cases. I mean... Just so we're clear...

Furthermore, when I simply ask the question as to what knowledge you're basing your statements off of, you're a dick about it. The internet is an amazing place.

Moving on:

Apparently I'm not the only one who's questioned the durability of the Otterbox for Iphone 4. They added it to their FAQ... Strange.

I'm a Dick? I gave my personal opinion on my use and experience with my Otterbox Defender case that I have had for a year now, sorry I took the time to assure you that its very well built your majesty I was trying to be helpful to you.

What qualifies me to say that you will not find a better built case to protect your fragile iphone? I would say that 20 years working the trades in the field & a engineering degree deems me a expert on what is built correctly and what is not!

Like I said I am sorry I took the time to assure you that the case you bought is of high quality & precision workmanship.

Now seeing how you are such a very rude and ungrateful person that obviously has no manners who is disrespectful towards his fellow man.

How about I give my address and you come call me a dick to my face Kid? Just so We are Clear!

Rude little punk! Obviously your parents did not teach you any manners & inform you that politeness & manners cost nothing!

Brush the sand out of your vagina and troll somewhere else. If you're an engineer than you surely understand the concept of sample size of 1?

I'm damn certain

qualifies as perhaps the ultimate juvenile behavior possible on the internet. I know, I know... You're 10ft tall 400lbs and would kick my ass... That's the way to deal with people on the internet... offer your home address.... /sarcasm x10. Idiot.

Ease guys, we are free to comment our views.

Just to bring the attention away from the unpleasantness, there's a new contender in the case scene. Casemate Tank, their marketing seem very convincing. But I would honestly, IMHO, say it's not as pretty as the defender BUT basing on functional pov, I think this TANK is a winner for protection.

wow, that case is pretty radical.. retractable screen protector? I tried to watch their videos online but it keeps freakin out

if you want good protection you should try the Woogie case

I've tried almost every single rugged case on the market. It depends how much protection you want in conjunction to how well you want your iPhone to look. The more rugged you get the more it takes away from the iPhone. Take the Griffin Survivor as an example. Very good case to protect your iPhone. However it takes away from the 'look' of the iPhone. The Defender isn't as protective as the Survivor but for a rugged case it does it's best not to take away from the iPhone look. The newer version Defender seems slimmer than the precious version. It has cut out for Apple logo. Nice slim design. You know it's an iPhone.

It depends how rugged you want your case. The more rugged you get the more it takes away from the look. There are some people who need ultimate ruggedness because of their work environment. So it's really a matter of how much protection/ruggedness you need.

Personally I need ruggedness because of my work environment. But I don't need the ruggedness that the Survivor, Ballistic, Sedio Rugged etc provide but I need ruggedness. The Defender provides the ruggedness I need.
