The fine print? Do they happily tell you the outrageous local, state, federal taxes that are charged as well BEFORE you sign up? I don't think so...fine print for the monthly cost is easily calculated. However, they don't disclose the typical tax added which can exceed and additional $25-$30 a month!

Guess what? You're going to be paying those same fees at T-Mobile or any carrier and they probably won't disclose those to you either. They're government fees and taxes. Charged by the government. Every carrier will have them.

LOL, NO I WON'T. That's FOR SURE. Lower billing a month per line equates to lower taxes.
:D

most of your additional charges are city taxes. Do you live in the city? That explains why you pay an extra set of fees on all of your lines.

Just set up an order on AT&T with two free phones, an iPhone and a Blackberry (could only do one iphone per account online so I just matched the data plans), 700 minute plan (to allow for 3 extra lines) and family text plan.

The total monthly is 179.97
The total monthly after a 25% discount is: 135.98 (you quoted 140 in the first post, so I'm assuming you had roadside assistance or insurance on one or more of the lines)

This is all pre tax. So assuming your 18.18 for the first line, and then assuming the other three lines are 4.20 each (given the information you provided)

Your monthly rate is roughly 162.56, which is exactly what you quoted in your first post. Looks like AT&T's math is fine and you aren't being screwed over at all.

Actually I messed up a little there and added an extra line, so

169.98
25%: 127.58
+tax: 153.98

But like I said, you could have a different plan/options, so it could end up being slightly higher.

A FAN discount does not apply to txt packages. I have a Honda FAN account and it only applies to voice and data. Maybe your sales person was new and thought that FAN discounts applied to the entire monthly bill, hence your ridiculous $110 oral quote for 4 lines with unlimited txting...I dunno but there was definitely ill perceptions and lack of communication. Hell, I have 1 iPhone with the cheapest voice and txt plan and it runs $79 before my FAN discount. The idea that you were gonna get 2 iPhones with 4 lines and a bunch of goodies for slightly less...

What state do you live in? CA? NY? IL? I would move the heck out of your state as they are taxing the crap out of you. I live in DE and my total tax and fees are $2.46.

:D

It sounds like you already have your mind made up about going back to T-Mobile, so why even bother complaining about it here? If you don't like what you're getting from AT&T just go back to T-Mobile.

1) Promised to pay $110 a month for three phones, 2 of which are iphones and unlimited data (for the 2 iphones), unlimited texting for all 4 lines(initially).
1b) Promised this by AT&T salesmen. Over and over with an employee discount of 25% will make monthly bill about $120 a month after taxes. This is so I will carry all FOUR of my TMobile lines over to AT&T.

This is a total rant - and so be warned:

I was content originally because the discounted pricing was suppose to be around $140/month.

First you say your price was supposed to be around 120/month after taxes, then you say it was supposed to be 140/month after taxes. no wonder AT&T isn't doing much to help you, you can't get your facts straight.

If a salesman promised a certain price per month you should be speaking to his/her manager to either correct the matter permanently or end your contract without paying an ETF. It's called a verbal contract.

Personally if I worked for AT&T still and you were talking to me as you have done on these forums I wouldn't help as I would be under the belief you're not being fully honest. Maybe you are telling the complete truth, I don't knw I can only go by what you've typed on the forums.

I have two iPhones on my account. My wife and I share 550 anytime minutes. I get a 20% discount through work which comes out to $24 per month off my bill. I used the TMS discounts to get 750 texts on one line for $7.49 and 1500 texts for $8.99 on the other. Surcharges and taxes total around $12 a month. My monthly bill is around $124/month.

I could add another line for $9.99 plust texting and I would be a little over $140. Throw in some city taxes and surcharges, which I don't currently pay, and I'd be at $150. Take away the discounted texting plans and then I'd be at $160.

It looks like you are getting a discount otherwise, you'd be paying around $180.

they don't tell you jack shxt about their change in anything - when I called, they disrespectfully lied about how my employer discounting changed and they sent a text message to our phone regarding this change in discount which is utter BS because I did not receive jack dookie.

AT&T lies about alot of things...

Oh, without a doubt.

Here are the lies that were told to me originally.

1) I was originally told that the family plan for the 2 iPhone lines is $129 bottom-line. That's all. It even says this on the website. But, it's actually $129+1 more $30 data plan. Or, $159.

2) My wife has a 24% off FAN discount. I was told that this means 24% off the whole entire family plan bill (except for taxes in your bill, which I completely understand). Not true. They take off 24% off my wife's line only (we have 2 iPhone lines and 2 non-data lines) and this does not even include 24% off her line's data plan (even though they require you to get it).

One of the first lessons I learned about cellular service was to never trust what the salesman tells you.

i see that all of you have a fan discount or some sort of discount around here.
how can i get one?
as small as it can be, but I want a discount too :D

Very true. Cell carriers are worse than insurance carriers. However, believe it or not, I never had this problem with Sprint. Sure, they would lie to you initially. But then all you had to do was call them back and come up with your own lies. Magically, they would then start to give you discounts and other free stuff.

Then after 30 days, you realize the billing is not correct and you cannot do jack about it without costing you major $.

All cell phone companies do this. When I 1st went to Verizon I had billing issues with my work discount and it took them 6 months to fix. at&t isn't the only one who does this.

LOL & this thread. Going from AT&T to T-Mobile is literally jumping from the frying pan into the fire. Several things:

1.) AT&T's 3G network does indeed suck, but T-Mobile's is non-existent. They don't have 3G at all.
2.) T-Mobile's coverage sucks. Their rates are somewhat lower but good luck getting a signal.
3.) Ever need to have your iPhone serviced/replaced by Apple? You may be able to un-jailbreak and restore, but you'll still have a T-Mobile SIM card. ;)
4.) The first 3 points were already widely known before you inked the deal with AT&T. ;)

they recently raised my bill because they said they "mistakenly gave my corporate discount off the data plan when it's supposed to be for the voice plan only"

i was paying $75 a month before and now i'm paying $82... not much of a difference but still, they didn't let me know before raising my bill.

Supposedly it's flat...

The first thing that will come to mind is when they CHARGE for MMS under the new 3.0 OS.

Say WHAT?!

This had BETTER fall under unlimited data or count as a text message when 3.0 comes out or I am going to be utterly furious.

It won't fall under unlimited data, no carrier bundles MMS with data. It will be included in a messaging plan. Depending on the plan you currently have, you may not need to do anything else.

That's not going to happen. He's talking out of his ass. MMS is included in text plans and comes out of your texting bucket. I have unlimited family texting and my parents and brother who have phones that support MMS are able to send MMS and it's treated as if it were a text message, meaning we don't pay for it.

The only time we have ever paid for messages was when I was outside of the country and roaming, and I was fully aware of that charge before I left.

hell yeah take your phones to t-mobile.

I have 700 minutes, unlimited texting and unlimited data

Blackberry Storm and iPhone 3G

we pay $145
I just discovered I can get a discount on my bill from the company I work for! SO hopefully our bill can go down a little bit with that.
