The alternate tracking number I received after the hold was placed had totally different routing information iirc.

Apple is insane. How much do you want to bet that there is a army of monkeys tracking every packing back at Apple to make sure none get delivered.

Yeah, it very well could. Most packages do not have a specified delivery date on them either. UPS delivers them in accordance with its normal UPS delivery guarantee. The iPad is different. Apple has specified Apr. 3 or 5. Apple's contract probably states if UPS delivers before then Apple doesn't have to pay for that package delivery. BTW it's "psych," not "sike." As in psych-out or psychological.

Depends on which spelling the person wants to use. 🙂

it means, "just kidding." many spell it incorrectly as "psych" or "psyche" but if you were alive in the 70s you know it is spelled "sike."

Yah, I hear ya. I don't really care if I have to wait another day - I prordered at 11:30 the night they cut off april 3rd delivery. It would have been nice to have it early and its a bit silly imho to hold them for that extra day when they can be delivered - but I understand they want a 'launch day' and the hype associated with it.

Me 2 - IPad out for Delivery

I ordered two IPads within minutes of each other on day one.
One is a 64 the second is a 32.
Like others on the second order I opted for expedited delivery and of course received my notice of a refund from Apple.
Tracking my two IPads the 64 which was ordered first still has the KY
info.
The 32 and 64 have separate notices but the 32 says Dallas and out for delivery

this happened with the iphone last year. there will be an exception.. guaranteed.

I don't recall anyone getting a 3GS early last year. There were a few people who claimed they did, but they couldn't prove it.

Nobody is going to get one early. There were a number of people as I recall that had "out for delivery" statuses then as well. None of them got it early. As has been said in some of the other threads about shipping, you can't trust the shipping status messages on these.
