Still on the fence! Had the 6 then upgraded to the 7 Plus in gloss black and loved it. Then went in with the X and have enjoyed it up to now for pocketability, although I miss the width the Plus model gave for games and video.

I ended up getting the regular Pro. Taking some getting used to after having been using an XS Max, but it does feel much nicer in the pocket!

I’ve always preferred the Plus phones and deliberately got the 8+ instead of the X, then immediately went for the Xs Max when that was announced. That’s the phone I’m using now.

After a year of using the Max, I decided to switch to the 5.8” 11 Pro. First, the battery life on the smaller Pro is now sufficient to run all day, whereas before the beefier battery on the bigger phones was a notable difference. Second, the Xs Max is damn heavy. Too heavy for easy use and I’ve even had a car mount bracket fail because of the weight of the Max. The 11 Pro Max is even heavier and I wanted something more nimble and easy to use one handed. Third, I’m sick of paying the premium for the bigger phone when the only functional differences are the screen size and an hour of battery life. With the Plus phones you always got a unique feature that set the bigger phone apart, but that’s no longer happening.

I’m sure I will miss the bigger screen, but I think the trade offs are worth it.

I went with the Pro. After a 6+ and a 7+, I found the X to be such a great size to handle. Definitely a sweet spot for me.

Always go max. Sometimes get tempted by a smaller phone since I am quite petite and have little hands, but I have always preferred the bigger screen size. I don't have an ipad, so I prefer the bigger screen to watch videos on.

I went for the 11 Pro. I thought long and hard about the bigger screen in the max, but in the end I use my iPad for most of my consumption viewing and the convenience of the smaller phone when out is nicer.

I went with the Max. Was a bit concerned about the size / weight, but figure the regular Pro is still 188 grams, so it's not like it's a whole lot lighter. At the end of the day, the larger screen makes everything a bit more pleasant.

Pro version. Coming from an OnePlus 7 Pro, 206g, taller than a Max version. Really too heavy for me. Plus I have an iPad. I tempted to a Max version but no, 226 is heavy. I remember how painful was with my OnePlus 7 Pro to do anything with one hand...

That was another thing that pushed me toward the regular 11 Pro. I have an iPad for most media consumption and my iPhone is mainly an on-the-go device when I don't want to bring the iPad.

After playing with the Pro this evening I can safely say I made the right choice. The moment I placed the Pro next to the Xs Max, the Max looked oversized. The Pro looked like a much better size. It’s so much easier to hold. I immediately acclimated to the smaller screen. I never had the X so I didn’t know how “correct” this form factor felt until now.

Pro is the perfect size. Max is trying to be something it's not (a phablet), and it's not big enough to do that well, yet the balance in your hand is so off. i'm going to wait for the day they make regular ipad sized iPhones, been waiting for that since ipads went cellular. either all or nothing, no in betweens! i'll be downsizing to the pro from XS Max

The non-Max.

I have my iPad Mini, with effectively twice the screen real-estate of the Max (and imo a preferable aspect ratio), for when I want to go big iOS mode. To bring with me in any situation I’m just happy the smaller the device is and thus went with the small phone. I get the Max is trying to solve it all at once and be “the one device”, but for me the compromise is too significant.

I've always opted for the biggest iPhone they sell, but this time I went with the regular 11 Pro. Over the past year, the XS Max was just becoming a hassle to hold. My pinky literally hurts daily because of one-handed use resting the phone on it. It's just too big. I think the iPhone 11 (XR) size is perfect, but OLED is the deciding factor for me there. My perfect iPhone next year would be a 5G notchless Pro model with the 6.1 form factor.
