I am still using my PBG4 running Leopard quite a lot and it is a lovely computer to use. I am still able to access my gmail-based emails quite easily but the outlook based ones (Hotmail - I am old) don't work anymore either in Mail LepWK or the last PPC version of TBird or in Aquafox as webmail.

Has anyone found a solution for this issue? It also affects my newer MacBook that runs Lion.

This is the message I see in Aquafox when I "Inspect Element" on outlook.com with a blank screen.

"The character encoding of the plain text document was not declared. The document will render with garbled text in some browser configurations if the document contains characters from outside the US-ASCII range. The character encoding of the file needs to be declared in the transfer protocol or file needs to use a byte order mark as an encoding signature."

Have you tried modern e-mail clients? I have no idea if Outlook is supported in either, but if standard protocols are used, then perhaps it should be.

I haven't found a modern email client that will run on Leopard PPC and access Outlook, even when using an app password.

Thanks for the tip. When I get Macports PPC up and running, I'll give it a go...

I don't think Claws Mail works on standard MacPorts so I will need to use PPCPorts.
What is the best way to install it on Leopard?

Technically it is possible to pick fixes as needed on the go, but there is really no advantage in sticking with official MacPorts on powerpc.

What is the best way to install it on Leopard?

Use pkgs from http://macos-powerpc.org (bootstrap_curl and ppcports).
After installing, comment out 4 lines, as specified here (I just had no time to make a new pkg, that was an unexpected breakage, and now I am away for 10 days).
Then run `sudo port sync`, and use normally.

If you previously had MacPorts installed, either remove config files in /opt/local/etc/macports before installing PPCPorts or modify those manually after installation, since they will not be overwritten (see sources.conf patch here).

Thanks for the help. For some reason, I can't open macos-powerpc.org but I managed to get a copy of ppc ports from one of your forum posts. Is there anywhere I could find bootstrap_curl?
