Looks like backing up and restoring from backup doesn't take your frequent location data with it, as it's not showing up on my new 5s this morning :(

Never mind :p

maybe to you, but there have been 3 more generations of iPhones since (4S, 5, 5s), so, really, it's 4 generations old.
Four generations does not equal four years. The iPhone 5S was released two weeks ago, so with one generation per year, the iPhone 4 came out three years ago...

It's really rather accurate and I really like it.

Hahah. I love when people change the argument to make themselves right. Its 3 years old dude, get over it. Years ≠ generations.

My question is does it popup or do you have to pull down the notification center? I've never seen it.
I don't believe it does, or at least it's never done it for me. Gotta check it.

It's been really accurate for me since it started kicking in during the beta. Scared the hell out of me when I saw it. Like when I realized why things are underlined in my messages. Kind of creepy.

Is this where we are headed?

My question, do you need to have Work and Home saved in Address book? Or how would it recognize what is a location for Work/Home? I suppose the time of arrival to each position is not decisively, as you might have a job with shift works etc.

Any thoughts?

EDIT: Thanks Tyler! I've updated work address. I'm pretty excited whether it will be working, will keep you posted :)

Yes, you have to add yourself in your contacts, and save those addresses as your home and work addresses.

I wasn't trying to be right, I wasn't even the one that said it was 4 years old. But it is 4 generations old technology.

iPhone 4= A4 single core processor/512MB RAM iOS 4 Geekbench 3: 212/211
iPhone 4S=A5 dual core /512MB iOS 5 Geekbench 3: 218/413
iPhone 5 =A6 dual core/1GB iOS 6 (& 5c) Geekbench 3: 723/1305
iPhone 5s=A7 64 bit dual core/1GB + M7 coprocessor iOS 7 Geekbench 3: 1411/2554

The A6 added quad-core graphics processing also. There is a more than triple speed jump between iPhone 5 and previous generation iPhones. iPhone 5s (A7) is getting a big gain in speed over benchmarks of iPhone 5 also. (Geekbench scores are with iOS 7.0.2 on all 4 devices. The second number is the Multi Core Score, which is where the 4 really falls behind. To see how long it takes the 4 to do run the test see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-kapq48cTLo (skip to about 3 mins. in))

The point is, the single core A4 in the iPhone 4 just isn't enough power for iOS 7.

Haha, it's always nice to see people hit rock bottom and decide to just keep on digging to see if they get out of it...

Thank you, i've never heard of this feature. Just checked and this service is not available on the iPhone 4 :(

Wondered why I had not seen this haha. Damn there will be so many features when I get the 6 will be like Christmas

My phone only tells me how long it would take to get home. It hasn't picked up on me going to classes every day at the same time, I even have the locations and classes set up in the calendar. I'm willing to bet it'll start telling me when the fall semester ends, lol.

benji888 you are 100% correct 4 generations old.

The commute time has not shown up on my phone yet, i have has iOS7 since launch day as well.

Mine still doesn't work. Anyone else not ever seeing this feature running? I tried turning off the frequent locations and turning them back on, and tried to turn off "today view" or whatever it's called and back on again. Still nothing. Been using ios 7 since the official release.

It takes about two weeks of running through a consistent routine for it to start working (ie M-F go to work at 8:00am). If you turn off the frequent locations and turn it back on again, the two week timeframe starts over. So leave it on, and let it keep learning, otherwise, you're setting yourself back to square one.

Worked on my iPhone 5, not on my 5s

I loved the traffic notifications. I have been using iOS7 since the 1st beta, and it worked great on my iPhone 5. I restored my new 5s from an icloud backup and it has NEVER worked on this new phone. I've done the same things...turned it off and back on, etc. No joy. Bummer, because I found it very useful.

I do client work so this would likely kill my battery more than benefit me. It may eventually tell that I am heading home from different locations but this appears to be ideal for 9-5 cubicle work.

It's pretty smart, and learns where you're going. For example, on a Monday and Tuesday afternoon I drive to a town about 30 miles away, and on a Monday and Tuesday morning it tells me how long it'll take to go there. Likewise, when I'm leaving there, it'll tell me how long it'll take me to get home, because it knows I'm going home afterwards.

Funny you keep all those turned on I have all of them off.

The frequent locations feature showed up for the first time in the notification centre on my iPhone 5 today.

I looked at my phone at 17:01 and it said it would take 17 minutes to get home. I thought it was talking crap 'cause I rarely ever get home before half past five... I got home at 17:18 on the dot.

I'm under no illusions it will be this accurate every time :p How is everyone else finding it?

Always been quite accurate for me. Sometimes, I'll leave work and it will say it will take me 28 minutes to get home. Then, half way through my drive, I'll check again and it will say Traffic is unusually heavy at this time - it will take you 25 minutes to get home. And boom, a few minutes later, I'm in traffic and it's updated time is right (there are frequent accidents on the highway I commute on - it seems to do a pretty good job of updating as soon as it's aware of a backup).

Been quite accurate for me for the past 3 months.

Mine still doesn't work. Anyone else not ever seeing this feature running? I tried turning off the frequent locations and turning them back on, and tried to turn off "today view" or whatever it's called and back on again. Still nothing. Been using ios 7 since the official release.

It hasn't shown up for me even with all the relevant settings turned on.

....this feature hasn't showed up once on my phone and although I do have Frequent Locations turned on (I can see the 2 most frequent places listed - one is where I work and one is where I live) couldn't figure out why it would just not show up on my phone?!

Yes, you have to add yourself in your contacts, and save those addresses as your home and work addresses.

You sir - are the man!!

You've just enlightened me as to why its not working on my phone!

So to clarify - I already have myself added in the contacts as 'Me' and I have put in who my family members are (so that Siri knows when you ask him to 'Call my sister'), do I then just add my home address as 'home' and my work address as 'work', in order to get this to work?

Yes, that's exactly what you do.

Would using 'frequent locations' use much data? I decided to enable it yesterday to try it out. Went over my data limit today :(. But, I was also using data a fair amount yesterday afternoon, so that could be it. Thanks for any help!
