Demand is high or supply is low? Us non-Americans have to wait again I guess. Let's hope they sort out their suppliers for the next iPhone launch.

It's a success!

Shame for those of us overseas who wanted one but I'm sure we can wait.

iSpin ;)

After months of rumours relating to supply chain problems that would restrict supplies, suddenly the iPad is way more successful than Apple could have predicted.

Co-incidence?

I guess its also so successful Apple hasn't had time to work out how much they want to sell it for in the UK either? :p

May be time for me to throw mine up for sale. Basically almost 2 more months before overseas can get them. Wonder when they will do 3g in the US?

This means they can't make them fast enough.

And who knew that demand was going to be this high months ago when the orders were being negotiated? It's not like Apple had a crystal ball telling them this was going to be a smash hit. They would have been irresponsible to have been banking on this kind of sales volume.

Now do you doubters believe? Or do you still think this device is nothing special that you can't get elsewhere?

I can wait. Time is on my side in this, the iPad decade of the 2010s.

This was expected but it still sucks! What exactly does "International" mean? Will they be delivering to every single country in the world? Or does it only mean like 3 countries like they did for the original iPhone? Is there an official list somewhere where Apple describes what they mean by "International"?

From what I can see, "international" means Australia, Canada, and the UK.

Well that is just annoying!

I just had one in my hand today in the UK, our company got some imported from the US so we get development going on them... Was expecting them to get mine to me shortly, and they said... "you can have yours at the UK launch"... and now this!

It's a fantastic device really and amazing to type on... I was blown away by it actually (and was not sold on it when it was announced)...

And now we wait...

(I have requested some more ordered from the US in the meantime...) Sigh.

Not particularly happy at having to wait, but glad it's taking off.

No point complaining about losing out on business if there're no customers.

Apple seems to have meeting demand when launching iProducts. Are they just unable to make enough, or do they just not order enough? After the original iPhone, you would think they would learn how to gauge demand better. But, nope. They had supply & demand issues with the 3G iPhone and now this.

It's just a case of "When do we want to release this thing? April. OK Mr Chinese Factory owner, how many can you make us if you work your employees flat out 24/7 between now and then? 500,000? OK that will have to do!"

The pond

BooHoo! I live in [Wales - NZ - Bosnia - Lesotho - etc.] I can't get my flying carpet for another month!

P.S. I'd love to have an iPad but can't afford one so it'll be years before I get one.

Wow, that really sucks for the rest of the world. That's almost 2 months after we got them. I guess the going price for iPads with international shipping on eBay just went up.
Wish that wasn't the case for everyone though, no I kind of feel bad for having one.

And who knew that demand was going to be this high months ago when the orders were being negotiated? It's not like Apple had a crystal ball telling them this was going to be a smash hit. They would have been irresponsible to have been banking on this kind of sales volume.

I don't think they could have seen exactly how many would want them when they were first bargaining for orders, but it seems with their experience with the iPhone, they could have better known.

Unless, of course, Apple intentionally ordered too few so Apple spin doctors could say that the iPad is a total success since they can't keep up with demand. Spin, gotta love it.

Great, thanks Apple for screwing over the rest of the world, as if we don't suffer enough with the inflated prices. Of course what they meant to say is "We are sorting out the wifi issues but don't want to admit it".

You most likely have it right. Apple doesn't want to come out and say they are fixing a Wifi issue and the product will be delayed. No, they want to spin it and say it's because of "demand".

Why cant the available stock be shared ?

Sucks to the non US customer base and is a real smack round the face to be honest to be told they are selling 'so well' in the US so 'You cant have one'.

What happens if they continue to sell 'so well' ...

meh... after the lame macbook pro updates and UK price hikes despite the £ being much better now, Im just about giving up on Apple.

I live in the Netherlands, and just had a friend ship one to me overnight from Chicago. With the exchange of the Euro, and the shipping costs, it still is cheaper than it would have cost me over here whenever they become available...

Well, the Swiss Apple store changed the availability to May 10, which is like 15 days vs. the original timeline (vaguely end-April).

I just need mine before end-July. Hope they ship by then. The e-bay (or BongoUS.com, for that matter) urge I had for a second has now passed.

it's nothing special. It doesn't do anything I cannot do already. I will buy it when it has a front facing camera for skype, granted I can use my macbook pro for this, but at that point, I see some viability in the device.

Yea, it's nothing special. Nothing at all.
